COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black House is an oatmeal coffee stout bursting with coffee aroma and flavor. Modern Times is one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be exceptionally picky about which coffees we use and how we roast them. The result is an abundantly flavorful beer thatís incredibly complex and aromatic, with loads of roast character and a chocolate-covered espresso bean finish. But Black House packs all that flavor into a reasonable package: at only 5.8% ABV, it can comfortably be consumed by the pint.

Draft at Pressbox. Dark pour, with strong roasted coffee nose. Flavor is basically just like stale, cold coffee. Thin palate, too. If I wanted to drink cold coffee, Iíd just drink cold coffee.

16 oz can picked from their assorted 4 pack picked up for me when furiousdman was in San Diego. Nose is roasty coffee (Kona like). Black with a small beige head. Flavor is coffee, roasty, and some background bitter dark chocolate from the thin body.

Solid stout with a good and unusual amount of bitterness. Good balance of thickness and drinkability. Standard notes of coffee and roasted flavor. Kinda drunk right now but I would like stronger coffee flavor and slight chocolate notes.

Poured from a can. Dark brown with a big, beige head. Lots of lacing. Initial aroma of chocolate and coffee. The chocolate aroma disappears quickly. Roasted coffee flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours very dark brown with a fizzy/creamy tan head. Aroma is sort of chocolate coffee. Not exactly any coffee drink Iíve had, but chocolate coffee. Definitely not mocha. Near full bodied. Flavor is dark malt, lots of espresso, and finishing with sweet dark chocolate - tho not a whole lot of it. Finishes fairly coffee, and fairly bitter. Good drink.

Can. Pours with a black hued body and a tan head of foam that sticks around for a while. Aromas are of leather, deep roast, light coffee, chocolate, estery fruit, light smoke, grainy malt character. Flavors are medium bitter, very mild coffee, light smoke, some roast, deep leathers, mild chocolate. I donít no at what point/temp they are adding their coffee, but it is really mild in the packaged beer. Still a decent base. Fuller carbonation, medium dry bodied. Decent, wish it had more of the advertised coffee character.

pours dark brown with a thick tan/mocha head...nice retention and lacing. aroma has light smoky roastiness...just a touch of coffee and chocolate. flavor is also fairly smoky with a bit more coffee and still light dark chocolate...bit of a tootsie roll note...some bitter espresso. mouthfeel is medium and slightly creamy with a smoky/espresso bitter finish.

Not a stout fan but this beer spoke to me as totally coffeelicious. Love the lighter weight which is something I donít like in most stouts. I know I know...not my thing but this beer would also be perfect for breakfast! A terrific lighter style stout.
