Black House is an oatmeal coffee stout bursting with coffee aroma and flavor. Modern Times is one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be exceptionally picky about which coffees we use and how we roast them. The result is an abundantly flavorful beer that’s incredibly complex and aromatic, with loads of roast character and a chocolate-covered espresso bean finish. But Black House packs all that flavor into a reasonable package: at only 5.8% ABV, it can comfortably be consumed by the pint.

Pounder->nonic. Pour is exactly Coke. A: lots of coffee with some chocolate malt. T: watery chocolate wi metallic coffee notes. Aroma far exceeds taste. Too thin and too much carbonation.

Pitch black color. Light frothy brown head. Very nice dry roasty coffee nice. The mouth lacks the acidity that many people like in stouts, but this is how I like my stouts. Big coffee notes with modest roastiness. Smooth and rounded. Hops are quit low. Lingering coffee finish. Very quaffable.

16 ounce can poured into a Belgian snifter. Pours black with brown hues and almost a finger of light tan head. Decent lacing that fades fairly quickly. Aromas of sweet and roasted coffee, caramel, vanilla, coffee grounds. Tasting notes of roasted coffee, oats, caramel/toffee, a bit of dark chocolate. Medium-light body with a semi-dry finish. Medium carbonation, slick and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Surprisingly delicious for a stout just under 6% ABV.

Sample from 50 cl. can. Lovely dark, amber colour with a reddish tint. Thin, off-white head. Roasted aroma with coffee beans, chocolate, bitter fruits, red berries and caramel malts. Taste is bitter. Medium to full body with a creamy texture. Very good for the alcohol content. Finishes dry and roasted with dark chocolate. Very fine Stout.

Can - from Antanna America - at Hotel Vintage Shinjuku - shared with Mette. Black - offwhite head. Roasted malts, light burned, some sweetness, coffee, coffee for freshness, almost more chocolate than coffee. Ok.

Can @ home courtesy of Felipe. Thanks man!! Pour is pitch black with a creamy brown head and great lacing. Big roasty, cocoa nibs, tar, leathery, earthy, espresso, light vanilla, marshmallows, and bready aroma. Taste is toasted bread, coffee, sweet vanilla, graham crackers, molasses, brown sugar, and grass with a sweet roasted finish. Slick mouthfeel with low carbonation. Very tasty stout and the mouthfeel on this beer is incredible, considering its less than 6%. Great session stout that tastes like it could be an imperial. Nice stuff!

Can. A red-brown beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, wood, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and alcohol, leading to a dry roasted finish.
