COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black House is an oatmeal coffee stout bursting with coffee aroma and flavor. Modern Times is one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be exceptionally picky about which coffees we use and how we roast them. The result is an abundantly flavorful beer that’s incredibly complex and aromatic, with loads of roast character and a chocolate-covered espresso bean finish. But Black House packs all that flavor into a reasonable package: at only 5.8% ABV, it can comfortably be consumed by the pint.

Can drank in Pracets, Bulgaria - picked up at BottleDog London. Pours deep brown with a creamy tan head. Ashy roasted malt aroma with hints of milk chocolate and dried berries. Light-medium sweet with bitter coffee grounds, baking cocoa, earth, burnt leaves, leather. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Fairly dry on the finish, with a faint burnt plastic note, some scorched earth, day-old coffee, more bittersweet baking cocoa. Not bad overall, but it just seems a little thin, and has minimal depth.

5.8%ABV. Coffee Stout. Tapped out a black brown. 38ºSRM. Nose has some green or lightly roasted coffee aroma. There is actually an interesting fruity component to the nose. The coffee aroma is closer to percolated or a hand-drip without the aggression of a pressure-extracted espresso. Mouthfeel is lightly soapy. There is coffee sweetness on the tongue right away then an inviting smokiness and a bitterness in the palate that reinforces the coffee palate. There is a very brief mild acidity in the mid-late palate which suggests a coffee berry. Finish is ume, smoky and stout-like. Very very good effort for.a coffee stout. Not going on the List because there are much better efforts out there, but this was very very well done. Kudos!

On draft at Tap 25. It pours a dark brown color with a creamy tan head. The aroma is very intense with coffee, hints of vanilla, dark chocolate and chocolate syrup. The mouthfeel is silky and creamy with some flavors of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. High carbonation for the style. Medium to high roasted malt in the finish with some earthy bitterness. An awesome coffee stout. No green pepper.

Can at home from the good hop Oakland. Opaque chestnut brown coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is nutty roast, light toasted coconut, earthy bark. Flavour is composed of earthy nutty malts, milky chocolate, light gigs, dried fruit, very little fermentation character. Palate us medium light bodied, highish carbonation. Semi sweet with some mineral, chalky. Lingering nutty malts. OK, but no depth.
