COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black House is an oatmeal coffee stout bursting with coffee aroma and flavor. Modern Times is one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be exceptionally picky about which coffees we use and how we roast them. The result is an abundantly flavorful beer that’s incredibly complex and aromatic, with loads of roast character and a chocolate-covered espresso bean finish. But Black House packs all that flavor into a reasonable package: at only 5.8% ABV, it can comfortably be consumed by the pint.

Keg at Brewdog Shepherd’s Bush, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a small beige head on top. Roasty, malty, coffee aroma. Tastes the same, roasty, malty, coffee, chocolate, some sweetness. A little thin but a decent stout.

Pours black, rather small white head. Smell is very roasted, a bit sweet. Taste is Roasty, sweet, dark chocolate. Very nice body, given the ABV, i’d even say crazy good . Low carbo, as it should be. Bit sweet, but mostly very roasty. Amazing amount of taste, in this low ABV stout. I take a bow !

Tap - difficult tasting after an imperial stout but that’s life - light body obviously - get the coffee but not massive - yeah I know, should have tried this first.... Ah well if I had tried this before the imperial stout, I would have just backtracked and marked it Iike this. A nice stout in its own right.... But I’d always go the imperial after or a Russian imp - oh yeah...

Negra opaca y con buena espuma. Aroma a café que se deja sentir también en boca, con un agradable final ahumado.

Poured from the can into a pint glass. Nice frothy head. Aroma is pleasant of coffee, chocolate and roasted barley. Very delicious. The coffee is so well balanced! I loved it!

16 oz can purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Canned on 1/12/16. The aroma has a lot of roasted coffee present. There is also a bit of a husky tannic note, too. Rather transparent cola-colored body with a strong, large, frothy light tan head present. Starts with a nice balance of sweet cocoa notes and roasted coffee. These two play off each other well and give this beer a nice mouthfeel, This is really pleasant. It’s nice to see a brewer use coffee successfully without creating a fucked up acidic, astringent mess.

An aroma of coffee with a hint of malt. Pours a dark brown with a short lasting white head. Taste of coffee with hints of cocoa and malt, full bodied with a dry feel and a slightly bitter coffee taste.

Fresh can. This thing smells incredible -- a bit of roasted malt and a lot of coffee. The flavor is more coffee, but well balanced in with a smooth, chocolate taste and medium-dry body. An excellent coffee stout.
