COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black House is an oatmeal coffee stout bursting with coffee aroma and flavor. Modern Times is one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be exceptionally picky about which coffees we use and how we roast them. The result is an abundantly flavorful beer thatís incredibly complex and aromatic, with loads of roast character and a chocolate-covered espresso bean finish. But Black House packs all that flavor into a reasonable package: at only 5.8% ABV, it can comfortably be consumed by the pint.

Not a stout fan but this beer spoke to me as totally coffeelicious. Love the lighter weight which is something I donít like in most stouts. I know I know...not my thing but this beer would also be perfect for breakfast! A terrific lighter style stout.

Coffee aroma smells amazing before 1st sip. Malt & chocolate are the dominant flavors. Creamy texture. My favorite oatmeal stout. Can't wait to try the rest of the Modern Times catalog.

This beer has become my go to drink. I havent found many that can come close to this dark and coffee stout smoothness. It pours very dark with a tan head. Toffee flavors and coffee sweetness that dont overpower the bark malt richness.

Super fresh and very tasty with traces of chocolate and tobacco smoke. Hopefully that make it imperial barrel aged.

Got in a trade with BeerBaron666. 16 ounce can into pint glass; no canning date, but should be fairly fresh. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of huge milk chocolate, fresh coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, oats, and roasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with awesome complexity and balance of coffee and dark/roast malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, fresh coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, oats, and roasted earthiness. Light roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, oats, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roast malt and coffee flavors; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding coffee stout. All around awesome balance and robustness of fresh coffee and dark/roast malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Dark brown pour with a nice light and creamy tan head. Flavor is a great blend of coffee, chocolate, light roast, vanilla. This is a really good damn beer.

16 ounce can poured into a Belgian snifter. Pours black with brown hues and almost a finger of light tan head. Decent lacing that fades fairly quickly. Aromas of sweet and roasted coffee, caramel, vanilla, coffee grounds. Tasting notes of roasted coffee, oats, caramel/toffee, a bit of dark chocolate. Medium-light body with a semi-dry finish. Medium carbonation, slick and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Surprisingly delicious for a stout just under 6% ABV.

AROMA: Predominantly coffee with some oats, vanilla, and chocolate APPEARANCE: Pours pitch black, left a small tan head that went quickly, how a good stout should look TASTE: Small amount of coffee, chocolate, oats, and vanilla, everything is very light but that is expected as it is under 6% ABV, but just because it is light does not mean that it isnít full flavored, this beer is pretty tasty PALATE: This is by far the beers best attribute, very light, smooth and velvety, incredibly drinkable and this beer is not that filling for a stout, every once in awhile I crave stouts and would like to drink more than one, and this would be a great example of a full flavored session stout! OVERALL: Great beer! will be an often pick up when I can get my hands on it!

Nitro draft at 38 Degrees. Dark brown, not black, with a well-formed khaki head. Big milk chocolate and roast aroma. The flavor is like an awesome mocha milkshake, with cold brew coffee and milk chocolate, roasted malts, and semi-sweet chocolate on the finish. A bit thin other than the nitro, but I actually really like that in this beer. This one is as righteous as your mother.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2015 Cola to black colored, nice tan low head with nice lacing. Aroma is of chocolate, roasted malt and roasted coffee. Taste is sweet milk chocolate, roasted malts, macchiato to roasted coffee bitter finish. Medium body and creamy. Just calling for one more! Really loved it!
