Blazing World is an aggressively hoppy beer that shares characteristics with both double IPAs and amber ales. Itís hopped with an excessive quantity of Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops, giving it an intensely fruity, dank hop aroma, followed by a huge & complex hop flavor and a healthy dose of bitterness. Its amber body is deceptively dry, offering just enough malt backbone to support its distinctive and incredibly robust hop character.

By the looks of it, Iím the THIRD person to rate this from a can! Very citrusy. You can really taste the characteristics of the Nelson hops. Quite delicious, actually. Not too astringent, not too malty. I really dig the grapefruit flavors. Did I mention it is IN A CAN! I mean, come on... what are the odds? Good stuff, would buy from again, A++++++.

Can. Dirty amber with an off white head that lasts OK. Brooding fruity hop aroma with grapefruit, mango skin, over-ripe, resin, caramel, biscuit. Sweet and biscuity with loads of fruit - peach and tropical, then citrus; pine is more gentle. Not all that bitter at the finish, but itís just dry enough for the fruit to waft through. Finish makes it.

Tap at Marciero. Fruity nose, lightly earthy, caramel and some butterscotch, but light. Lovely malt, biscuit, a touch of caramel and toffee, orange, lemon, mango from the hops. Yes, if you called it an IPA, no one would argue, but that amber ale character still comes through. Good stuff.

Aluminum can from Sproutís: Poured a hazy dark golden honey color with a froth topping of foam head. Aroma is hoppy with scents of fruit juice perhaps apple or strawberry juice and is quite possibly the most aromatic amber ale I can remember. Somehow also reminds me of the scent of a sweet onion freshly sliced that also burns my eyes in return. The drink doesnít deliver much as far as the hop profile I had picked up on from my nose but there still is a delicate undertone of bitter funky hops that taste very strange. Not exactly the best tasting amber ales but above the low standards set by all the companies trying to find a middle ground market for this particular category.

A hoppy amber ale. Super enjoyable from a great San Diego brewery. Even straight out of the can it's a tasty and quality brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16 ounce can poured into a tulip. Dark golden orange color. Nose is tropical fruit, dank, pine; flavor follows with a medium body and a dry bitter finish. Kind of a hybrid amber and IPA; hoppy and unique.

[ As Modern Times Blazing World ].
Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to light heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, fruity, tropical fruit, peach. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light heavy bitter with a long duration, hoppy, citrus, licorice hops. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140118]

Amber pour, off white head. Nice combo of lightly roasted malts and some resinous and grassy hops. Touched of roasted nuts and toasted pepitas.

Pours a dark amber, almost like cola, with a fluffy head. Nose is floral hops, dank, fruity, musty. Taste is quite dank, caramel malt backbone is quite present, a bit biscuity, moderate hop flavor but they're not sharp like an ipa would be, citrus fruits, pine, a bit dry at the end. Body is sticky/chewy. Overall a good amber, very dank and malty, ok balance but a bit malty for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Pours amber and a bit cloudy. Aroma is grapefruit, peach, mango, and dank. Taste was nicely balanced with the fruits and came together perfectly. Nice amount of bitterness in it with a smooth yet dry finish. Iím very impressed with the couple Modern Times Iíve tried so far.

Modern times Blazing world American amber ale 6.8% ABV 85 IBU APPEARANCE: Poured a hazy, ugly, penny copper orange with a lazy sticky two finger off white head. Stuck around for a nice while before finally settling into a small halo. AROMA: If dank was a fruit, then this would be fresh squeezed dank! Great tropical fruit overload, pineapple, mango, and citrus. The simcoe hops really hit the nose before making way for the malty goodness that crashes over. TASTE: The aroma makes you think you are drinking an ipa, but the first sip is malt forward and reminds you that this is still an amber ale. Flavor is intense and in your face. Great fruitiness and floral notes that are interviewed with a small amount of pine. Finishes out with a nice sweet biscuity, honey backbone. MOUTHFEEL: Medium body and Medium carbonation. Slightly more sticky and chewy then I would expect from 6.8% ABV. Nice semi dry snappy finish that quenches me thirst but also leave me longing for a other sip at the same time. OVERALL: I'll go right out and say this is my favorite amber to date. So well balanced, but the hoppiness that isn't usually found in an amber is nice and present. Makes it drink like an American amber ipa combo and I love it! Great job Modern Times, I now put this above the fortunate islands on my top Modern Times beer list! RATING: 4.5/5 Zombie Heads! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
