By the looks of it, Iím the THIRD person to rate this from a can! Very citrusy. You can really taste the characteristics of the Nelson hops. Quite delicious, actually. Not too astringent, not too malty. I really dig the grapefruit flavors. Did I mention it is IN A CAN! I mean, come on... what are the odds? Good stuff, would buy from again, A++++++.

16oz can pours a dark amber color without much head. Intense full hop flavor that balances well against the malt.

1 pint can from Bev4less. Pours a translucent dark copper color with a small off-white head that slowly recedes to a fine film. The aroma is dank with grapefruit and pine. The taste isnít nearly as hoppy as the aroma would suggest, I get a nice balance of piney hops set in a nutty malt bast that also shows a touch of cocoa. The palate is light but effective and the carbonation is soft. Finishes long and dry. Overall: First rate Amber Ale--Loved it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
16 oz can. It pours a clear gold color with a white head. The aroma is dank, berries, tropical fruit and citrus. The flavor is the same. Dank, tropical fruit, and a dry lightly caramel malt backbone. Finish is strong bitter and somewhat malty. Good one.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
16oz can. No date. Hazy, dull amber color, with a very thin head. Aromas of earthy pine, diesel, bitter orange rind, and mango. Medium-plus body, with average carbonation and medium bitterness. Flavors of earthy hops, dank, pine, bitter orange citrus, and green mango. Little malt character, though Iím not complaining.. Loviní the hop character here. Enjoyable. Good value. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
16 oz can a gift from furiousdman. Looks, smells, and tastes like a West Coast IPA. Nose is pine, mango, papaya, and citrus; very fruity and resinous. Hazy orange with a medium light beige head. Flavor is bitter and fruity; IPA,all the way. So I will rate it as an amber and that will reaaly bring down itís rating; it would have been a 4.0+ IPA. Not enough maltiness for an amber.

Can from trade. Big thanks for my first Modern Times brew. Pours a dark orange, slightly hazy. White one finger head on top that lingers for a good while. Big time pine and resin on the aroma, grapefruit, sweet malts. Awesome hop presence here. Flavor is lots of bitter pine with a sweet finish and lingering citrus and pine on the palate. Nice and dank with excellent integration of both the bitter hops and sweet caramel malts. Resinous medium mouthfeel with a dry bitter finish and medium high carbonation. A very nice brew.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of the most exciting "amber ales" I have ever had. Solidly layered malt backbone with flavors of caramel, bread and light toast. Slightly hazy gold with a lasting, foamy head. Smooth texture. All sorts of hoppy things going on in the flavor, aroma and bitterness. Everything from tropical fruits to pine, and flowers to grass. Bold yet balanced bitterness. Really tasty stuff. Iím blown away by this beerís hop profile.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2014 Re rate: the subtle carmel hop notes on the palate and finish make this beer just pop! Amazing!
Intense, dank citrus aroma with a sweet, hoppy carmel taste. Drinks like super crafted DIPA. Modern Times is straight killing it!

Shipped a box back to myself from a recent trip to SoCal - a big dent in the bottom side of the can from the loving hands of FedEx seems to not have made a difference with this one! Deep amber in color with a really nice off white head. Slightly hazy. Bright citrus nose. Taste is really well done - flavorful hops with very little bitterness. Dry and just a touch of bitterness in the finish but still a strong malt character. I would drink a lot of this when I wanted something hoppy!
