Lomaland is Belgian-style saison that’s both complex and quaffable. In keeping with the farmhouse tradition, Lomaland is brewed with barley, wheat, and corn, giving it a complex and delicious malt body that pairs beautifully with food. Czech Saaz hops are added in the kettle to give it a lightly grassy, peppery note and just enough bitterness to cleanse the palate. It’s distinctively rustic, earthy aroma comes from the unique blend of traditional Belgian yeast strains (95% Dupont/5% Westmalle) we use to ferment it.

It pours a clear pale golden color with average head. The aroma has a Belgian spiciness to it like pepper and a bit of lemon citrus. The taste has some spiciness to it as well and some nice grassy bitterness. The body is light, clean and dry. I love the description on the can as rustic, it describes it well. This was quite enjoyable and worth the buy.

Can. Nice, light, grainy, little bit of fruity sweetness, cherry maybe. Taste is quite dry and refreshing. Something solvent like in there, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing right now. More fruity further down. fruit drops, bit tropical, but grainy dryness keeps it in check. Little bit of creaminess too. Nice.

Tap at Marciero. PAstel yellow, almost anyhow, with a low head. Meaty fruits in the nose, yeast, honey malt, lemon, funk minerals. Biscuits. Decent, but comes off either as too American for a saison, or more like a tripel. Heavy yeast and malts.

Can. Hazy gold with a large white head. Floral and spicy aroma with light dough, lemon pudding, pepper, cloves. Light bodied, moderate carbonation. Sweet with some stone and tropical fruit (or bubblegum), a wheaty tanginess, spicy at the moderately bitter finish. Refreshing, but wanted a drier finish.

Light straw color. Light hop nose with some lemon citrus. Bit of yeast character in the taste, I guess, but not very saison-like. Unclean finish. Drinks a lot like a mediocre pilsner. Disappointing as I had generally heard good things about Modern Times.

Sampled at the RBSG 2014. It poured a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma was of lemon, tropical fruits and a hint of pepper. The taste was similar with herbal hops, some celery and herbs. Decent.

Aggressive pop when the tab was pulled. Large, rocky white head with good retention and plenty of sticky lace. Hazy, pale, gold color. Mild nose of yeast, bread and straw. Body is light, nice carbonation, slightly acidic, clean. Dry pale malts, lightly fruity with spicy light peppery notes, some grain and citrusy notes. Dry finish, lil earthy and juicy. Decent brew! Thanks Stefan!

Clear golden creamy fine white foam. Tangy Dupont with wheaty notes. Lightly astringent fruity apple pear notes.

Can shared by jdad at Pauls. Poured an unimpressive pale straw yellow under a smaller off white head, slightly hazy. Aroma was blah, bad booze, wet dough, grains and rotting lemons. Flavor is just a bit better than the aroma, light lemon, malty, wet bread, cereal grains, wet toast. Fizzy body, strong carbonation, lingering flavor.

This is a cloudy pilsener yellow in the glass w/ a small and fine-bubbled head. It has a banana and bread yeast nose. It is very midly tart, slightly sweet and full bodied w/ creamy carbonation. It’s really tasty w/ lots of great fruity notes that seem to come from yeast rather than spices.
