At 7.5% ABV & 100 IBUs, Phalanx is somewhere between a single IPA & a double IPA. It prominently features Australian Summer hops, which bring a very distinctive peach/melon character to the beer. That awesome fruit character is balanced by some citrusy Chinook hops & a touch of dankness from Horizon.

Bottle. Hazy orange pour with big white head. Nose is grass, lemon, bread, tropical fruit. Flavor is tropical fruit, grass, caramel, peach, with a bitter finish. Different for an IPA.

22 oz bottle shared with friends. Clear golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of tropical fruit and light citrus. Tastes of citrus, tropical fruit, stone fruit, light hops. Medium body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation, juicy mouthfeel. Nice fruity IPA.

Juicy peach and apricot right up front and center. Soft palate and bitterness...more flavor and aroma with less bittering than expected, especially at 100 ibu. A real treat.

Bomber from Kings Liquor in Anaheim. Pours light copper with a white head. Aroma is tropically floral. Med body. Flavor is lightly sweet caramel with some very unusual floral hop - and maybe tropical fruit. Hoppy, but not all that bitter. Gets a little peach or apricot in the finish. Very pleasant ale.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours amber with a lacy, white head. Aroma of floral and piney and lightly citrusy hops, some pale and caramel malts, and some dough. Flavor the same with a nice blend. Average texture. A pretty good IPA but I was expecting better.

Pours a clear golden orange from the bottle with dissipating off-white head that leaves good lace. Aroma is big on the peach and mango from the hops with a hint of caramel sweetness behind it. Taste follows, but the malt is more present and there seems to be some nice citrus notes as well. Sweetness almost covers all the bitterness, but there is a bite on the back of the tongue, mild carbonation, another winner from this brewery.

Bottle at home with my dad. Pour is hazy orange with a big white head and great lacing. Grassy, slightly lemony, biscuit, tropical fruits, caramel, and bready aroma. Taste is sweet fruits, mango, light butter, grass, caramel, bread, lemon, and orange marmalade with a medium bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Not bad, but there are definitely some off flavors going on.

Clear amber colored, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is sweet hops with notes of orange, grapefruit, citrus, candy caramel. Medium bodied, for 100 IBU this is a very sweet IPA.

Bottle. Orange. Peach aroma. The taste adds blueberry, pineapple, and grapefruit. Sweet mouthfeel with light bitterness. Really good summery idea. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Clear gold with a medium whitish head. Aroma is blueberry yogurt and floral soap. Smells better than that sounds. Taste follows suit but adds a huge portion of peach and some melon. Substantial mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Awesome.
