Moeder Overste is a triple beer with 8% alcohol content. With its full, strong taste, it is possibly one of the best brews produced by Lefébvre. Flanders and the Netherlands have been able to appreciate this heavenly beer for the last 15 years. Moeder Overste has a golden hue and is perfumed with spices, wood and fruit flavours mixed with malt to produce a fine bitterness.
It can be served cold at 5°C or with the chill taken off at 10°C, depending on one’s taste. Enjoy.

Bottle.33cl. A bit yeast in the aroma but not a bad one and it does not have the normal alkohol aroma. It has short sharp bitterhop aftertaste.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2015 33cl bottle. Beautiful deep copper coloured beer with a nice head and gentle bubbling. Heavy sweet smell, a mixture of banana, peach, caramel with hints of raisins and black berries. Touch of metal and malt. Maybe even some cherries. Bitter but subtle, the taste is fruity but not overwhelming. Cherry sourness. Hints of wood. Dry and sweetish with a touch of alcohol. Overall a subtle, original triple.

Typical belgian ale. Muddy golden coloration, dense, consistent and very persistent cream. Alcoholic aroma, but in the palate has crystallized fruits, crlove and spices, as all excellent belgian tripel............................................ Típica belgian ale. Coloração dourada turva, creme muito denso, consistente e persistente. No aroma o álcool sobressai, mas no paladar há frutas cristalizadas, cravo e especiarias, como toda ótima tripel.

Aroma: barley, honey, sourishly hoppy... banana, very balanced but nuanced. Candisugar.
Appearance: really golden, semiclear with frothy head.
Flavour: nice, surprisingly dry and full-bodied, yeasty. Corn sugar, rich but light malt, solid, fresh... aftertaste of cinnamon and ginger.
Palate: simple, pretty typical tripel...

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2007 bottle @ quinns. Amber with a fluffy head (thanks to Kevin’s expert pour!). Odd patterned lace. What a rebel. Yeasty citrus aroma - fairly standard. Taste of spice, apricot, orange and vanilla bean. Tangy finish of fruits - not quite sure what to make of it. Quite creamy and smooth. Really unique - it really stands out among other tripels.

(03/2007. Bottle). I always forget I’ve had this beer and reorder it off the menu ... the bottle reminds me that, yes, in fact, I have enjoyed more than a few of these in my day. Avec plaisir ... My last notes were "Wow. Nice." Typical triple aromas ... malt, coriander, orange ... but extremely well balanced and inviting. Some alcohol notes back there too. Gold and a bit murky, medium bodied and sweet. Finishes dryer than one would expect. A nice beer, starting better than it finishes (the palate being overwhelmed, in my opinion, by the end), it is one I always enjoy in Belgium -- but seldom order more than once per trip.
