3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted 1/6/09. 12oz bottle. Filtered with an amber brown hue. Tight ring of head. Malty aromas with a definite caramel note. Dry palate. Odd yet tasty. Nutty. Ever so slight buttery. Decent.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
This one poured very near black into my pilsner glass with virtually no head. The malt was there and a slightly piney hop finish was noticeable. A very dry finish, even for a lager. Chocolate was noticeable on the malt profile and very enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle
**Summary** - A nice dunkel this was picked up on a beer run to northern Kentucky. I’ve had reasonable success with Moerlein in the past and decided to give it a shot. Passable this one might be a safety outlet for times when nothing else is on tap somewhere.
**Aroma / Appearance** - A half finger head surged to the top of my shaker creating the appearance of day old road slush. A reddish brown body the color of the setting sun accented it well. The nose seemed to remind me of hot chocolate made from baker’s grade chocolate rather than powder. Sugary and malty it had a nice presence.
**Flavor / Palate** - A little on the sweet side and too thin it tasted like a blend of chocolate and vanilla powders. Reminiscent of an iced coffee the flavors were somewhat muted. This was decent overall but nothing special.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
A copper-brown hue with a beige head. good malt notes but otherwise this beer was way too light. Carbonation was mild.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle generously given as a bonus by alexsdad06. Thanks Brad. Light sweet malty aroma. Perhaps a little chocolate or ripe fruit. Not too much going on here. Nice transparent red amber colors with a thin sticky head. Malty sweetness, ripe fruit, toffee, a touch of tartness and maybe some toast. Some dry roast lingers for a while and then is gone with the clean finish. Unobtrusive, well done. Nothing special, but nothing wrong with it.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. Filtered looking brown amber color. Unassuming mildly sweet aroma. The taste is pretty straightforward, with a crisp hop balance to the dark malt. Not exactly world class, but a pretty good session beer in a lot of respects. Easy drinking and smooth for sure.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark ruby-brown color with a large khaki head. The aroma was lightly sweet and malty with a touch of malted milk and chocolate. The flavor was sweet, creamy and malty with a lightly bitter and roasty middle and noted of malted milk underneath. The finish was short tangy and bitter. Decent.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Toasty, dark malt with a light woody component. A little upfront sourness that segues into a mossy, earthy peice that is well suited to the creamy mouthfeel.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
About average right down the line. Nothing to go out of your way for. Kind of light and watery.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
BOTMC Selection November 2008: Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a red-brown body, topped by a medium head of tan foam, which lingered. Aroma is malty, with some caramel notes. Flavor is on the dry side with medium to light mouthfeel. Palate is slightly roasty, though not much else. An adaquate, though not outstanding brew.
