COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moerlein Barbarossa is slow-aged with a deep reddish brown color and a malt aroma derived from Munich dark malt. The balanced finish invites a toast to the return of a legend.

Bottled. Poured crystal-clear medium brown with a dense, well-retained beige head. The aroma was sweet, but about right for the style.. darker fruit, some berries, and molasses joined by some peppery accents.. warm and very fruity overall. The flavor found the same dark fruits at the core, paired with molasses and a touch of semi-sweet chocolate.. finished with good balance between sweetness, spicage, and warmth. Light-medium bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. very good mouthfeel.. solid brew!

Pours a translucent mahogany with a medium, white head that stays. Superb lacing. Malty, slightly roasted aroma. Full, creamy mouthfeel. Malty flavor, slightly finished by some sour notes in the finish. Nonetheless, a good example of the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Nutty chocolate malt aroma. Dark chestnut brown with moderate tan head. Slightly sweet chocolate malt flavor with a lightly bitter herbal hops finish. Nice body. An excellent dunkel.

Bottle. Black bread and chocolate malt and prune aroma. Chestnut with a small, quickly dissipating tan head. Dark bread, sweet chocolate malt, and prune flavor. Smooth medium body. I really loved the chewy dark bread flavor going on in this one, and found it going down far too easily. This is one I could drink a little too much of if I wasn’t careful.

Pours dark brown with tan head.. Scent is dark fruit, cola. Flavour is Bread, raisin, chocolate, roasted malt... A very tasty, semi-sweet, smooth beer... Definitely one I want to have on hand in the cellar. Simple, but excellent.

Originally reviewed: 6/18/10. 12oz bottle picked up in Findlay, OH. Poured into a mug. Pours a dark sweet tea-looking color with a thin tan head resting on top. Little retention, less lace. Scents of dark fruits, raisins, faint alcohol, and warm pumpernickel. The body is of moderate depth. Carbonation level is decent. Good crisp feel. As far as flavor goes, this is one of the best of the style I’ve ever had. They really nailed it where it counts. Great bready flavors abound, some faint molasses, and plenty of chocolate malts. This reminds me at times of a chocolate drink. Very well-done. I could have another, no problem. Recommend.
