Commercial Description:
Moerlein Barbarossa is slow-aged with a deep reddish brown color and a malt aroma derived from Munich dark malt. The balanced finish invites a toast to the return of a legend.

BOTMC Selection November 2008: Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a red-brown body, topped by a medium head of tan foam, which lingered. Aroma is malty, with some caramel notes. Flavor is on the dry side with medium to light mouthfeel. Palate is slightly roasty, though not much else. An adaquate, though not outstanding brew.

has a good malt aroma to it, body seems a bit thin, has a little of a roast malt taste, but not much else.

Another aight offering. Coffee and sweet malts on the nose. Little sweeter in the flavor. Little sweeter yet in the burp. Dunkels is a rare breed, innit?

It pours an almost clear, deep caramel with a creamy khaki head. The aroma is delicately malty, with a sweet caramel character and notes of fresh biscuits. There is also something of a metallic tinge to the aroma, probably because these are twist-off caps and the beer has been slightly oxidized. The taste: remarkably clean. Dry, with touches of caramel malt flavor and toast. Again, there is the slightest bit of oxidation, likely my fault for treating this beer badly and drinking it old. The palate is wonderfully dry, with a smooth but not overpowering carbonation. I could easily have another. By the way, this one has left thick rings and serious honeycomb lacing on my glass.

Bottle courtesy of alexsdad06. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of dark fruit, earthy, tea, caramel, molasses. Tastes of tea and some caramel. Decent.
