3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Beer of the month club. Clear brown color with small beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, cookies, some pleasant hoppiness and some fruitiness. Flavor starts sweetish with pretty thick maltiness, some caramel, hints of chocolate and light fruitiness with a nice bitter, somewhat earthy and spicy, hoppy finish with malt still in the background. Medium-bodied. After I pour the residue left in the bottle, the beer gets a slightly yeasty character. The hoppy balance makes this one quite enjoyable.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle… Clear copper ale with a small, creamy, white head. There’s not a whole lot going on, aroma-wise, as I can barely pull anything up from the glass – maybe a bit of caramel, toffee, plum and date. Light to medium-bodied with barbed carbonation. Decently balanced; leans ever so slightly on the sweet side. Finishes crisp and mildly sweet. Bottle courtesy of mgumby10!

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: NOV 6, 2015 12oz bottle. Red-orange clear color, with a brown hue. Tan head, leaving some lace. Moderate but smooth carbonation. Light dryness. Interesting fruity spice taste. Light bitter spiced taste. Not usually a fan of Moerlein, but this is a decent christmas ale, because it’s not exactly like the other 25 christmas ales I’ve had this week 6/3/6/2/12
Re-rate, 11/6/15: 4oz on tap at the Lager House. Clear red orange color. Thin kind of cream-colored head. Some loose bits of lace. Toasty malt, some winter spice, and orange, bit of caramel, and a hint of chocolate. Medium-plus body. Kind of soft, lighter to moderate carbonation. More dry in the finish. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, light to moderate bitter, slight medicinal quality, touch of veg. No, still not a fan of this...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle from Bigg’s in Hyde Park. Pours a nice clear copper color with an inch-thick white head. Aroma of caramel malts, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, hops, and floral notes. Flavor was sweet and lightly spiced, with honey, caramel malts, the same spices as above and maybe a little pepper to boot, and gingerbread. Light bodied, and too watery and thin on the palate- could have used some more body. Decent winter brew.
