Youíve made a discovery--a well-hopped IPA inspired by the revolutionaries of Cincinnatiís Northern Liberties. North of Liberty St. and beyond the reach of municipal law, the area was known for tolerance of beliefs and behaviors, which were shunned in Cincinnati proper prior to 1849. Moerlein Northern Liberties draws inspiration from these free-spirits with this hoppy, well-balanced, copper IPA in pursuit of Life, Liberty, and Hoppiness.

The Cincy version of Bellís two Heated Ale. It is a bouquet of floral citrus and grapefruit aroma and flavor. It has a nice malt backbone for balance as well. A fine beer and a worthy entry into the moerlein family.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma of caramel malt, tropical fruits. Flavor of tropical fruits, floral hops, and light bready malt in the finish. Some bitterness in the finish too. A fruity IPA, reminds me of the Mikkeller hop series. 8/4/8/4/15 (3.9/5)

Taste of Cincinnati. Good and smooth, yet crisp, taste. Refreshing for an IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle from 12-pack sampler case purchased in Ohio. Served in a Sam Adams glass. A: Orange-amber in color with a large, frothy off-white head. Superior lacing and retention. S: Sweet with citrus and floral notes, and a bready malt base. T: More fruity and appealing than the aroma. Mildly bitter hop finish. M: Good medium body and medium+ carbonation. Near creamy smooth.. O: A mild IPA. More like a pale ale in terms of hops load and bitterness, and perhaps a bit light even then, but tasty and highly drinkable.

From a six pack of twelve ounce bottles purchased at "Kellerís IGA" - Okee-dokee, this is a good copy of Mid-California hops heavy IPA, but thereís no shame in that... I just wish my friend Greg Hardman (the capo de capo of Moerlein) wouldíve been a bit more individualistic with this brew. Still, itís tasty enough... but itís no O.T.R.!

Pours a light slightly hazy amber with a big off white head. Aroma is citrusy fruity hops. Flavor is grapefruit with a nice lasting bitterness and nice biscuity malt backbone. Not bad.

The pour is a slightly hazy gold with a sticky off-white head. Juicy sweet malt aroma is played off by the fresh citrusy hop aromas. The flavor is towards the bitter side, but not overly so. Nice long dry hop finish. Medium body.

Bottle. Poured clear copper color with a large frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate bitter flavor with a moderate bitter finish of medium duration. Very good brew.
