Brewed for people who love all things malty. This deeply aromatic amber brew envelops the palate in a clean toffee-like maltiness with faint hints of fruit. A small bit of roasted barley adds a refreshingly dry finish. Intended to be your summer’s malty companion.

Draft pour during Ohio Brew Week. Pours a clear dark copper with a beige head of foam. The aroma is sweet toffee and caramel with a big sweet candy influence in the taste. Medium body with low carbonation.

Pint at brewery - nose is generally malty with caramel. Sip adds floral notes and slight cardboard. Dry to the lips. Light to medium body. Thirst quencher but not aroma quencher. Slight roast/toast. OK.

Taster on tap at the Lager House. Clear amber color. Thin off-white head. Good chocolate aroma to it. Medium body. Kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Some caramel, spicy malts, some earthy hop. Solid ale.

Draft at the Lager House. Not on the menu, but I’ve been there like 2 or 3 times since this has been on and missed it. Glad I overheard the waiter mention it to another table. Can’t find the ABV or any description anywhere, but I’d imagine it’s in the 5% neighborhood. Anyway, it pours a clear amber, on the deeper side, with a small beige head. Nice toasty notes throughout, with brown sugar, a bit of tobacco, faint earth, and some nuts. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a toasty mouthfeel. Very good Scottish ale.

Draft. Poured clear brown color with an tan frothy head that lasted with excellent lacing. Solid complex sweet earthy malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Solid toasted sweet malt flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

Draft sample at brewpub pours clear copper. Nose very soapy, mild spicy malt, toffee and caramel malt. Taste typical Scottish, good malt, toffee, slight sweet. Minimal bitter, sweeter malt finish. Tastes better than it smells.
