COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cincinnati’s Saengerfest choral celebrations started in 1849, and quickly became the Midwest’s most monumental festival. That led to the 1878 construction of Music Hall, just blocks away from the beer garden, which was built for the Cincinnati May Festival. The choral festival continues the saengerfest tradition, that it started in 1873. The beer is “a well balanced Maibock characterized by spicy and floral noble style hops.” It’s a deep golden lager, what is called a “blonde bock.”

32oz growler, filled about 9 hours ago from the Lager House.. There was a little bit of extra air space in the top of the growler. Totally clear orange color. Minimal bubbly white head, fades to virtually nothing. Medium-plus body. Light, crisp carbonation, pretty smooth. Some floral notes in the nose. Light caramel malt, little lightly spicy hop, little fruitiness. Pretty bready. Mostly sweet taste, a light bitterness, and a very light bite in the finish. Not a bad maibock to session

Bottle purchased at Kroger. Clear amber pour with a medium off-white head. Malty aroma with some caramel, lager yeast and a bit of toastiness. Sweet malt and caramel flavor with a light apricot character before a toasty and sweet finish.

Pours a clear orange with a slightly off-white head. Aroma of grain and light hops. Flavor biscuits, spice, and toasted malts. Pretty good.

Draft at the lager house. pours deep golden amber with a small off white head. Aroma is malty and bready with notes of biscuit and toast, a slight hop spiciness in the back. Flavor is much the same, lots of that bread and biscuit, really smooth, with a stronger herbal hop presence and light fruitiness. Medium body and a sgarp carbonation. Nice beer

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2012 Mild, almost undetectable aroma of roasted malt. Appearance has a nice amber color with a white head that starts out full and stays around. Rich roasted malt flavor with some doughy characteristics (pizza crust?) and vegital undertones. Moderately well balanced hop bitterness remains in the aftertaste. Crisp lager character. I like it. Very good effort.

Draft to mug. Looks good; copper with nice head and CO2. Smells and tastes pretty good, but could be a little matter. mouthfeel is solid. Good but not great.

12oz bottle - pours caramel with quickly diminishing white head. Nose is caramel and floral hops. Flavor adds a tiny citrus note. Taste is bittersweet. Medium body with sticky mouthfeel. Caramel aftertaste. tasty and has character, but not my style.

A very fine brew. Would be a great session beer. Effervescent and light, but with a nice hops kick. Reminds me of Sam Adams, but better.

12 oz. bottle from Tmoney99. Pours a clear golden amber color with a large off white head. The aroma is pale malt, mildly spicy hopswith hints of caramel dipped bread. The flavor has a hefty dose of caramel dipped bready malts, very light spicy hops with a hint of grassy bitterness at the finish. This is pretty clean and easy to drink.
