English: Mohawk Blizzard is an extreme beer. It is brewed with ten malts, dark cane sugar and honey, as well as eight different varieties of hops. All this to help with complexity, while providing balance and elegance. Light red to brown in colour and pours a milkchocolate colored head. Slight cacao and roasted tones in the aroma. Very fizzy mouthfeel not to my liking and very bitter like dark chocolate, Not at all as good as earlier versions

Riktigt bra imp. Porter, kraftig i både aromen och smaken. Riktigt bra fyllighet i både kropp och smak

Flaska från SB. Svart med beige skum. Svag doft av lite kaffe och syrliga bär. Smaken liknar doften med övervikt mot syrlighet.

330ml bottle, 2013 vintage. Pours really dark brown, almost black, with a brown head. Compact, roasted, hoppy aroma, coffee, licorice, spruce, citrus peel, tobacco, caramel, leather. Off-dry, full bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2. Rich, roasted taste, coffee, licorice, hops, caramel, spruce, ashes, dark chocolate, tar, earth. Long, dry finish, well balanced. (2014-10-24)

Bottle from Earl of Essex drunk on a train. Black beer lasting tan head. Chocolate sponge cake and spicy slightly alcoholic aroma. Rather good I thought. Simple. Chocolate. Light cocoa chocolate. Then some heat on the finish. Simple and doesn’t keep the heat out of the finish. Simple plain strong chocolate sponge porter. But fine.

Bottle, BBE 31/12/15. Pours a dark brown, black with a fairly large, dark latte colored head. Aroma is strong liquorice, some salty liquorice, light ethanol, medium roast. Taste is strong liquorice, quite roasted, lightly smoky, light chocolate, more in the aftertaste. Some citrusy hoppiness. Medium with medium carbonation. Enjoyable, more balanced than I make it sound. It’s not a liquorice bomb by any means. Has that nice, tangy mix of roast, smoke and citrus(?) that great imperial stouts/porters usually have.

Bottle and beer dudes tasting at Appellation Wines Comely Bank, thanks to BenH again I think. Appearance - opaque brown/black with a thin crema head. Nose - booze, tannins and fruitcake. Taste - booze & tannins again. There’s a finish that is reminiscent of burnt raisins and liquorice. Palate - medium to full bodied, big tangy and boozy texture and a reasonably balanced finish. Overall - another beast of a porter/stout from BenH. Interesting and enjoyable.
