Coffe colored. Coffee taste. Brownish foam. Fresh fragrance of spruce needles and wet soil. Rich, nuanced bitterness, harsh accessibility. No everyday porter. This is an extreme beer for sure. Not bad, but not really my favourite either.

Bottle: Vintage 2013: Served in a Chouffe glass: Not sure who I have to thank for this bottle, but thank you to the one who got me this bottle of beer. Medium sized vast creamy yellow beige head with a black body. Aromas of hops (flowers and fruit included), liquorice, some roast, like a crispy stout or even better a good BIPA! Flavours of roast, bitters, bay leaf, hops, fruits, flowers, some mocha tints, floral and herbal tones. Tasty! Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, hops, bay leaf, some hop fruits, hint of chocolate and some hop flowers. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium to full bodied. Great beer, balanced, interesting and damn this is really easy drinkable stuff considering the ABV. Well done!

pilsnerrogge (2538) - Finspång, SWEDEN - DEC 26, 2014
Bottled:
Pours black with a nice head.
Aroma is cookie dough, dried fruit, plums and licorice.
Taste is hops, licorice and some coffee leading to warming finish with a hint of dry, roasted malt.
Tastes like the missing link between Imperial Porter and Black IPA.

(Bottle). Lovely scent of hops mixed with aromas of dark roasted malt, cane sugar and licorice. The taste is hopy with flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate and some salty licorice. Dangerously easy to drink with a tone of warming alcohol in the finish. However, In my view there’s a little too tangy/fruity tone in the taste, I prefer drier Porters.

Bottle: Aroma is roasty and fruity with notes of cacao, dark fruits, molasse, dark chocolate. Very dark brown color, creamy coffee brown color. Flavor has intensive notes of dark chocolate and cacao, toffee, sweets, roastiness, malts, some cacao bitterness. Give me more of this stuff...

Bottle. A very dark brown beer topped by a dense, light beige head leaving lacings. The aroma has some vanilla hints, with dark chocolate, coffee hints, some molasses and licorice as well as a roasted touch. Rather dry on the palate, with a fine carbonation level. Salty licorice, molasses, roasted malts and dark chocolate in the flavor, a fine bitterness chiming in. Lasting roasted finish with salty licorice. A bit drier than I’d prefer, but still a fine beer. 141213

tfredvik (1208) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 7, 2014
Cloudy black body with a bit small, tan and fairly long-lived head that sticks somewhat to the glass. Strong aroma that is surprisingly little malty but with a rather strong hop influence of pine and herbs. Lightly roasted malts in the back and traces of smoke. The strong flavour is much more malty, with coffee and other roasted elements. There is also faint notes of dry cocoa and chocolate in the late finish. The hops are evident in the flavour as well: pine in front with grapefruit and herbs in the back. The alcohol is noticeable, but not unpleasant. Magnificent mouthfeel: it’s a full-bodied beer with a creamy and smooth texture, soft carbonation and a very dry end. A nice hoppy porter not that far away from a BIPA.

Big light brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly fresh grassy, fresh hops, pine needles, rubber, leafs, roasted grain, coffee, dark malts, grass, minerals, burnt caramel, bark.
