3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CanCrusher (309) - Ilirska Bistrica, SLOVENIA - APR 30, 2013
Bottle 0,33L. Very dark brown, almost black colour with tiny beige head. Strong hops aroma, some roasted malts and coffee. Bitter taste and very dense mouthfeel. Medium to full body, oily texture and soft carbonation. This beer loks like combination of stout and ipa.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 yngwie (10760) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAR 11, 2013
Bottle. A clear one, dark brown in color and with a minmal-sized beige head. Some roasted notes in the aroma, but it’s mostly on the piney and resiny side. Quite bitter in the flavor, with piney and resiny hops and a hint of roasted malts. Medium to full body, and a mostly bitter finish. Slightly unbalanced this one, but it drinks quite easily and doesn’t taste bad in any way. 120525

Courtesy of Cunningham. Thanx Henrik!
Pitch black color, with small off-white head. Smells very malty-rosty, with lots of citrus-hops. Starts with a massive malt body and lots of burnt roasted coffee flavor. Some fruity hops are noticeable in the background. The middle part shows massive burnt malts with caramel and dark coffee. Goes into a strong coffee-like finish, with some fruity hops and lots of burnt malts.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tfredvik (630) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 22, 2012
Very dark brown, close to black, gorgeous looking body. Unfortunatley the head is rather sad looking: it’s small, frothy, light-brown, short-lived and hardly laces the glass at all. Strong and very inviting sweet aroma that is dominated by malts while the hoppy notes are far less pronounced. Roasted notes with coffee, chocolate and dark caramel, with fruits and hints of liquorice in the back. Also some traces of creamy dairy notes. The taste is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter, lovely! Strong flavours that again are malt driven with hoppy contributions in the back. The body feels a bit thin for such a high ABV, but it’s still very pleasant, and makes the beer feel refreshing despite the overall roasted malty feel. A nice black IPA, opened in the memory of those who were killed on this black day one year ago. Rest in peace.

0.33 L bottle. Thanks Cunningham, for the treat! Near black with dark brown highlights. Tan big-bubbled head. Initial aroma of fruity US hops, followed by a clean and subtle whiff of toasted and light chocolate-scented dark malts. Amazing! Clean, light roasty and chocolatey malt body. Bold fruity bitterness. Well-bodied. Juicy mouthfeel. Lingering fruity-bitter ending. Nice all over, the best BIPA i’ve had so far.
