COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

500 ml bottle courtesy of Angst. Thanks. Pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head that has fair retention. The aroma is big and bold with lots of roasted flavors, anise, molasses and walnuts. The taste, like the aroma, features roasted grains and nuts set in an anise malt base. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry. Overall: First rate stout, much enjoyed.

Opaque black - brown beer, small tan head. Nose is an odd mixture of dark chocolate and blue cheese! Palate is softish with light fine carbonation. Smooth mild dark malts. Rich dark chocolate and oaty cereal. Malt cream and a touch of tangy espresso. Very light citric hop on the back end. Finishes smooth. Rich and tasty.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. 2012 vintage. Pours black with a creamy and frothy dark mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, grass, moist soil, salty liquorice candy, caramel, burnt cookies and alcohol. Taste is heavy bitter and malty with roasted malts, dark bread, burnt caramel, grass, pine, resinous wood, salty liquorice and alcohol. Mouthfeel is velvety, round, slightly astringent and near full bodied. Finish is bitter with roasted malts, grapefruit rinds, grass, pine, resinous wood, coffee, salty liquorice and alcohol. An imperial BIPA? Whatever it is it’s good.

Flaska från SB. Julöl 2012, ca ett år gammal. En habil IS som har allt vad man kan förvänta sig. Åt det sötare och fruktigare hållet. Riktigt trevlig.

500 ml bottle. Dark brown almost black, but not opaque. Small off-white head. Nutty aroma with dark roasted malts. Some alcohol notes. Slightly oxidized. Bitter hops in the background. Rich malty complexity, but without cloying sweetness. A little too nutty and roasted to my liking.

500ml bottle. Pours a near pitch black body under a tan-coloured head, reduced to a remaining layer. Spotty lacing. Rich mid-sweet cocoa aroma as well as moments of dark fruits. Comprehensive taste profile of liquorice, honey, dark fruits, ash and wood. Bitter roasted ending, long-lived. Well bodied. Smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. Perfect night cap (from the hotel bar at Amaranten, Stockholm 21.06.2013).

Appearance: Sinful dark and subtle red color, with a creamy beige head. Nice lacing.
Aroma: Rich roasted malt, coffee, hoppy and chocolate.
Palate: Full body. Moderate sweet and a fine bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Complex and heavy stuff. Roasted malt, coffee, light fruity, hoppy and some chocolate. Well hidden alcohol.
Overall impression: It is not often I notice hopps in Imperial stout. It was not to difficult in this one. Lovely tasty powerful ale. I am a big Mohawk fan!
Personal stats: Bottle from Systembolaget in Strömstad, Sweden.

Bottle from Systembolaget, Sweden. Short brown head. Cleqar brown color. Big coffey arona and dark roasted malts. Much caramell and dark roasted roasted malts. Alcoholic and a bit young in the taste. Firm body and some residual sweetness.
