rgrady3 (8), Minnesota, USA does not count Sep 23, 2008 Got a bottle of the Foret. Pours murkey with a large, frothy head that sticks around. Medium particles can be seen in this light amber liquid. Light aroma with floral and yeast and hops notes. The first sip was amazingly unexpected. Mouthfeel was like creamy velvet. Citrus, vanilla and flowers start this one off with nutmeg throughout. Finishes acidic that does not linger. This one would be good cold to quench your thirst, but might work a little warmer as an aperitif or with a meal. satan165 (541), River Grove, Illinois, USA Sep 21, 2008 wonderful aroma of yeast, pours cloudy yellow. some aroma of hops, definately more hopped then traditional dupont fare. very spicy, reminds me more of a regular belgian ale then a saison. however, the yeast character brings me back. very little of this peppery quality is found in the nose to foreshadow its strong evidence on the tounge. razor sharp dry finish leaves the mouth clean and refreshed with only a touch of alcoholic burn to remember it by. xibalba89 (147), New York, New York, USA Sep 18, 2008 Had a 750ml bottle, label Foret. Pours a hazy amber with a frothy head. The aroma is lots of skunky but light yeast and grass. The flavor has very light malts and yeast, very refreshing. A really good saison, though not my favorite style. I’d like to compare this with the regular saison. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Sep 11, 2008 (Bottle). Spicy fruit aroma. Cloudy orange color with huge white head. Flavor is spicy and semi-sweet, with some herbal notes. Finish is somewhat bitter, not unpleasant. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA Sep 5, 2008 From a 750mL Bottle. Mostly hazy, light golden yellow color with a tall head of frothy white. Yeasty nose brimming with passionfruit, nutmeg, and black pepper. Softer notes of vanilla malt lay beneath. A pleasant earthy hop character provides some herbal depth to the aroma. Light bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel with a dry, yet pleasantly malty texture. Light sweetness up front, followed by some pleasant herbal hops. Notes of pepper and lemon come through mid-palate, along with an subtle tart twang, that with the herbal hops, accompanies the bucheron and baguette I’m enjoying perfectly. Finishes a bit warm, leaving soft alcohols and bitter hops lingering on my breath. Great saison, but not as superb as the Vielle Provision. CafeeOndineke (28), Aalst, Belgium Sep 2, 2008 Updated: Oct 9, 2008bottle 25cl, hazy blond, aroma of malt, fruit and fine hop, refreshing saison. Soft, fruity and bitter! buzzoven (333), Japan Aug 25, 2008 According to the bottle, this is Belgium’s only true organic beer and it was a nice surprise. Pours a nice glowing orange yellow with some yeasty sediment bits floating around and a fluffy sudsy white head. Smell was muted, but pleasant enough. Flavour was tart, sweet, sour, hints of grass, dandelion, some white wine characteristics. The finish was surprisingly bitter and the hops were very well balanced. Alcohol at 7.5% but if I were drinking it blind I would have guessed a 5%. Body and flavour shows a nice complexity and a depth that certainly stood out. This is what you might call the Sunday brunch Saison. vikingbeercbus (34), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 23, 2008 Bottle, happily discovered in beer fridge. Nice sedimentation, fruity, but not too sweet. Perfect beer on a summer night.
