On tap at the Sunswick in Queens.I need to preface this with the fact that Saison is not my favorite style of beer. This poured a golden amber. The nose was a bit spicy and yeasty, very pleasant. The flavor followed similarly and had a spicy finish to it. I have to say I enjoyed it more than just about any other saison I have had.

The best Saison I have tried in America. An absolutely killer appearance. The quintessential photographic beer. A medium, creamy, and mostly lingering head. Carbonation the dances on the sides of the glass, and a rich two-tone golden color that is hazy yet bright and sparkling. The head mellows into a wonderful, meadow of froth, with small hills and valleys. A few particles of yeast are present as well. Flowery and citrus hop notes intermingle with bananas and caramel. The aroma seems to swirl in around in my nose, with different notes taking the lead on every inhalation. The flavor is well balanced, slightly sweet, slightly sour, and slightly bitter. Maybe just a tiny bit metallic. The finish is sour.

Pour cloudy gold, large white head. Aroma of citrus and flavor of fruity dryness with some spice. Nice beer.

oops didn’t mean to open this one, but here we go. medium hazy gold, persistent creamy white head, dusty speckled sediment. foggy aroma with some lemon citrus. dry tart wheat character continues with the lemon. bonus points for the increased alcohol and organic ingredients.

250ml bottle from Barley Wine, Copenhagen. White, creamy head on top of a hazy, orange body. Some laceworks on the glass. Fruity nose with hints of spices. Taste of sweet riped oranges with a dash of yeast beneath. A bit too sweet (Thanks to Finn Arvid for sharing, 02.08.2008).

Pours pale golden/orange, with abundant cloudy particles. Foamy white head. Aroma is yeasty, bready, fruity, and sour/funky, but pleasant. Fruity flavor balanced with increasing citrus bitterness toward finish. Very similar to many of the tripels, but not as fruity perhaps. I agree with clingman that this Saison did not have the peppery/spicy aspect that I expected. Nice but not extraordinary to me.

MMMMMMM. Pours a hazy gold with a nice head. Citrusy aroma, a little funky/musty. The flavor is much like the aroma, adding a crisp refeshing slightly spicy character. It seems to me to be a little less spicy and more fruity than the Saison Dupont. There is a malt sweetness that appears in the aroma and beginning of the mouthfeel. It transitions to a nice dry somewhat, for a Belgian, hoppy finish. Excellent!!!!!!!
