DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Jul 11, 2008 Dirty straw yellow, towering head of tiny bubbles. Flowery/perfumey aroma, then yeasty/musty. Sweet straw-like malts, perfumey flavour (rosewater?), some citrus, and doughy yeast. Very nice. TheGent (143), , Massachusetts, USA Jul 9, 2008 Updated: Oct 21, 2008When bottle was opened i got a skunky smell but that wasn’ there after it was in the glass. smell became fruity malt. Brownish yellow color in the pour, the flavor was doughy with a bitter dry finish. I’ve decided this is one of my least favorite styles. laguerita (111), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 8, 2008 A bit of a skunky smell but it disappeared in the taste. A good mix of spice with banana character and a nice bitterness. Really really good. Wegro (218), Fresno, California, USA Jul 7, 2008 hazy dark gold body. smells floral and doughy. great spiciness. very dry without being overly bitter. has some buttery stuff in there too along with a thick but inviting mouthfeel, crisp carbonation. a winner in my book. gotta try it again sometime.
NobleSquirrel (1094), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 7, 2008 A damn fine saison. Bottle from WLV. Pour is a golden saison color, nose is a kiss of skunk with some spicy fruitiness behind it. All hops in the nose, surprisingly. Taste is similar, though the skunk washes out and has a spicier, tangy taste, a little banana and surprisingly bitter. A great beer on a hot day. Excellent. pepperford (115), robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA Jul 6, 2008 white head on top of a hazy golden body. aromas are very flowery, grass, a touch of juicy fruit, and dough. a bit of grass in the flavors, a mixture of sweetness, dry tartness, citrus, and finishing in a dry bitterness that is palate cleansing. this i a very nice beer to pair with foods (shellfish, seafood) and a nice suprise for your non beer friends. thebeertourist (2750), Oslo, Norway Jul 2, 2008 Bottle at Ons te Huis, Diest. Cloudy golden with a small white head. Good orange zest aroma. Fruity flavours, notably of oranges, with some sour and spicy notes as well. Good carbonation. A well-crafted saison that still does not quite excel. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2008 An opalescent golden ale with a thick creamy white head. A very pleasant aroma of coriander, catnip, herbs, clovers and light candy sugar. In mouth, creamy dry malt, not too sweet, coriander and orange peels, a bit astringent and funky. No alcohol. Medium bodied. Bieropholie import. Tasted early April 2007.
