Hopper (277), San Antonio, Texas, USA Aug 24, 2009 An unclear golden beer with a massive head. Aroma was funk, spritz, lemon, & wood. Taste was lemon, woody, slightly funky, sour, & a little skunky(I hope it did not go bad in this green bottle), Had a carbonated mouthfeel. A decent saison but I’d rather have Saison Dupont. daleharshman (181), San Diego, California, USA Aug 15, 2009 Notes from a Dupont tasting at Holiday Wine Cellar. Pours a cloudy yellowish amber. Nose of old grain around a farmhouse (appropriate for a saison??) along with some floral hoppy aromas. Flavor has none of the sour/funk of old grain from the nose. Overall the taste is similar to the Dupont Saison with signifiant mild hop bitterness and lemon along with some light spice (pepper). Medium mouthfeel with good carbonation. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jul 23, 2009 Draught @ ZBF 2009, St.-Niklaas, Belgium. Unclear medium amber yellow color with a average to large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, fruity, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20090307] LtDan (471), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA Jul 22, 2009 Appearance: Pours a cloudy dull amber gold. I got about 1/2 inch of foamy head that eventually subsided. Let’s in a bit of light, but you cannot see objects through it.
Aroma: Dry malts and fruity Belgian yeast.
Taste: Dry malts, spicy fruity Belgian yeast. Finishes dry with a moderate amount of spicy, bitter hops.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, very carbonated.
Overall: A classic, easy drinking, well crafted beer. I bought the 11.2 oz.bottle, I regret not buying the 750ml. Highly recommended. lowgun1212 (75), Montclair, New Jersey, USA Jul 5, 2009 Light orange, healthy head, nice lacing. a - slightly pilsner smellingalong with acidic citric (lime?) and horse blanket, wet grass, tart berry?. f - light crusty baguette, yeast, saltine, apple, cranberry, grapefruit, light but long pilsner-y hops finish. p - snappy carbonation keeps it light. hidden alcohol. champagne-y without the sweet. WallyWalrus (205), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jul 3, 2009 11.2oz bottle. Pours a cloudy gold color with a huge white head. Aroma is earthy and sweet, with a big backbone of malt, bread, and grain along with a variety of sweeter notes like apples, citrus, honey, spices, and floral notes. Taste is crisp but with a big body, with an initial creamy body of grains and bread opening up into sweeter and crisper notes of citrus, apples, spices, and yeast. Delicious -- I love all of the flavors and aromas involved. A saison as complex as a stout. Theis (3617), Denmark Jul 3, 2009 Bottle at home - shared with Mette. Cloudy golden/amber - white head. Fresh hoppy, fruity, orange, citrus, yeasty, apples, yeast esters, sweetnes, honey, zesty, cardboard. Kasper Larsen would love this !!! boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 27, 2009 Bottle from Organic Brewers Fest... Poured a cloudy orange with a thick white head. Spiced, yeasty and bread-like aroma. Dry palate, crisp and refreshing. Yeast and bread flavors with a honey, earthy sweetness and cucumber-like vegetables.
