BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Jan 7, 2007 [750 ml] Pours a nice golden yellow color, with a tall frothy head. Yeasty, sweet aroma. Funky, earthy flavors-- initially quite sweet, with some great yeast character and grassy hop flavors. Very nice peppery finish. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Jan 4, 2007 75 cl bottle. Golden colour with a nice fizzy white head. Nice aroma of fruitness, bread-like and yeast. Very spicy flavour with a very bitter and dry finish. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 1, 2007 Updated: Jan 6, 2008750ml, from memory, U.S. labeled Foret bottle. pours a hazy pale color with big head. aroma is pretty funky, yeasty, some mild barnyard smells but also a sweetness behind it. tastes is rather sweet and funky, lemon and pear. finishes pretty dry. i like my saisons to be more funky and dry and this one is a little too sweet for my tastes.7/4/6/4/14=3.5.
750ml bottle, Summer/Fall 2006 bottle, aged around 16months. pours dense straw/golden color with white head. aroma has some lemon, hay, grass, grainy. flavor is pretty sweet with some grainy and citrus, there’s a touch of lemon and yeast. smooth carbonation, alcohol well hidden. i wouldn’t say the age helped or hurt this but I would think it could hold up for a few years. a solid saison but dupont does it better and I can’t find a reason to pick this over it (unless you need something organic).7/4/7/4/15=3.7. hughie (3016), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Dec 12, 2006 Hazy gold with a large white head. yeasty aroma. Sweet, fruity alcoholic taste with developing sourness and bitterness. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Dec 2, 2006 750ml bottle. My admiration for saisons keeps growing and Foret is one of the more consistently fine offerings I’ve had. An absolutely gorgeous amber body - deeper and richer than many - and a huge floral head. I can drink this any time of year, as its subtle spice palette can refresh in summer and warm in winter. Ideally I’d like a slight hint of pepper to balance out the tarter fruit notes but this one is great. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Dec 2, 2006 The aroma has light herbal hops dried grass and other plant matter. Very earthy. It is a cloudy orange beer with a very nice white head, even on this short pour. Flavor has lots of salt and very dry hops. Some barnyard, but I didn’t get as much of this as Ben. I do agree it is more suited to warm weather. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Dec 2, 2006 Cellar’s Tasting. Golden color with a large head. Big barn aroma and a spice I can’t quite place. The taste is very much the same: a blast of that straw/barn flavor. I think the spice may be an ample amount of a hop I’m just not used to. Very refreshing, though I don’t think I’d drink it again on a cold night. More suited for the summer. MrEcted1 (144), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA Nov 30, 2006 A wonderful Saison by Dupont Brasserie. This beer is called Dupont Foret in my area but it’s the same beer as Moinette Biologuque. This is a great saison. Pours a nice cloudy light orange hue with a good pure white head. Not too much lacing for me... but it might be the glass i’m drinking out of. Starts off with a nice sharp tart flavor that slowly develops into a delicious fruity cornucopia of flavors. Most prominate flavors are apricots and apples. One of the better saisons out there!
