Pours a very nice hazy golden color with a thick rocky white head. Smells of deep spice and rich sweet fruits coming alongside those earthy notes. Tastes of spice, some sweet citrus, and yeasty. The finish is very nice with the lightly bitter hops and some tart as well. Very refreshing. ansermadide (496), Kyle, Texas, USA May 17, 2009 Sample at 3rd Annual Great Austin Belgian Beer Festival on May 16, 2009. Labeled as Dupont Foret Organic Saison. Losing memory for the review (too many samples by this time), but I did manage to write down the numbers. Fruity-sweet, nice yeast/malt balance, floral. Light hoppy finish, a nice touch... DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 16, 2009 On tap -- d.b.a. in the East Village/ Houston area. Rich fruit and pale malt character - dry hoppy finish, small bit of brett funk. Spicy. Goldy orange with lacy head. Good stuff. The Etruscan (304), Tuscany, Italy May 14, 2009 White weak head. Orange-amber colour. Aroma is moderately malty with fruity (apples), floral, herbal and hoppy notes. Flavor is moderately hoppy with floral (roses) and fruity (unripe apritcot) tones, ending in a hoppy prolongued finish. Light to medium bodied. carruthm (1112), Seattle, Washington, USA May 9, 2009 clearish orange with a thnnish lacy head. flavor of slight saison spices and slightly minty, perhaps some grains of paradise as well. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA May 8, 2009 Pour is a bright golden with a large white head. Aroma is very spicy and malty with a hint of funk. Flavor is spice up front then comes a bit of the cloves followed by some creamy yeast. Again an ever so slight funk is left on the tounge as this goes down. A very enjoyable saison. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA May 8, 2009 750 ml bottle, corked and caged, labeled as Foret, purchased at Royal Liquor in South Kansas City, Missouri. 2.008 stamped on the cork. Pour is a hazed cloudy orange yellow, with a very thick and pretty white head. Splotchy lacing lines the glass as the head slowly falls. Pretty. Aroma is big skunk initially, when that airs out, nice grainy, wheat, mineral and earthy yeastiness. Also a nice floral citrus tart sour smell going on. Nice nose. Taste is a nice soft grainy wheat, followed by a clove sweetness, then the citrus bite and finally a soft white pepper. More grassy mineral earthiness in the finish. Lots of spice and flavor in this one. Palate is medium, nice active carbonation and an earthy dry finish. Really nice.
