pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA May 29, 2005 This beer was very fizzy, with a light fluffy mouthfeel. Overlly spicy, with too much of a cinnamon/nutmeg element. It really reminded me of a local wheat beer actually. I enjoyed it, but the spice was too one sided. irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA May 27, 2005
beer pours out fizzy but manageable - a big white head on top of a typically hazy orangish/gold body. nose is wonderful - spicy with an almost clove and black pepper note, grassy and earthy aromas - really nice. flavor is almost as good, but for me the clove gets a little thick. there is an interesting, almost licorice bitterness. moutfeel is very crisp, due to the fizziness. finish is quite dry and makes it easy to go in for more erway (1002), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA May 25, 2005 Pours a turbid golden with a white pillowy head. Nose of muscat grapes, oranges and corriander. Med lite body, very lush due to very high CO2. Taste is a medley of light sweetish tart flavors; orange, pear, lemon miruengue (sp?) and a slight sourness. Oh so smooth and drinkable. This would be my session beer of choice if I was among the rich and haughty. Beautiful. The best organic ale I’ve had. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA May 22, 2005 Yellow and almost clear with a meringue like head. Spicy, mineral, fruit and yeast aroma. Tantalizing in flavor. Musky minerals that give way to a clean bitter finish. The rater before me nailed it pretty good. iwantalambic (1385), St. Louis, Missouri, USA May 22, 2005 750 mL bottle, corked & caged (2002 version, sampled May 2005): huge and elegant, white meringue head with a clear golden body. Streaming bubbles help maintain a small cream on top. Sweet citrus tang in the aroma with a nice dose of lightly funky yeast, dry white grapes, and soft rose petals. Outrageously bold, yet delicate carbonation. Grassy and cracked black pepper sit on the tip of the tongue and develop into sweet, citrusy hops, sugar cane, and a honeyed bitterness. The pale malt flavours flow throughout and balance the farmhouse funk beautifully, truly lovely. jsquire (2086), St. Marys, Ohio, USA May 21, 2005 I’ll admit that it was late in the evening at schroppfy’s when I wrote my notes on this beer, but this is what I think they say. Cloudy golden color with a thick foamy white head. Spicey nose. Flavors of lemon grass (but I may have just wrote that down because BBB63 said it) pepper and yeast. I remember I liked it. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA May 16, 2005 Bottle: Another from Schroppfy’s gathering that I’m not sure who brought. Strong citrus aroma with some other fruit and yeast. Pours a transparent orangish-gold with a large white head with very good retention. Nice lacing. Flavors are somewhat hefe-like. Citrus and banana up front with a citrus and spice finish. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 5, 2005 had the desireable yeast and carbonation characteristics of the other Duponts I have had. Refreshing and lasting peppery aftertaste. Somewhat sweet fruity and acidic, with a spiciness.
