MullMan (1080), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA Nov 28, 2004 slightly cloudy golden color with medium frothy off-white head. light yeast/spice/orange peel nose. sweetish yeasty and malty flavor with floral tones and dry finish. good balance. Kasteelfreak (341), Fallbrook, California, USA Nov 27, 2004 Lot 04049B whatever that means. Lively carbonation that produces a very nice fluffy white head that retains nicely. Aroma is very wheaty with clove and a little lemony citrus. taste is like a full body hefeweizen. Slightly sweet at first, but then fades very quickly to be very dry, chalky, and bitter. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Nov 23, 2004 Light peach. The aroma is fairly subtle but perfect for a saison in my opinion. It’s very fruity, spicy and highlights fragrances of cantaloupe, bubble gum, peach, caramel and clove. A bready, caramel like maltiness is evident as well. I’ll be the first one to admit that I am a huge saison freak, but this one is especially characterful. I love Dupont’s yeast which is why I am currently having a love affair with Blaugies as well. The bittering hops play a profound role in the flavor along with the slightly tart and ripe fruitiness and notes of cinnamon, orange, nutmeg, clove, toffee and caramel. A lovely saison. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA Nov 22, 2004 Cloudy golden color, medium sized white head that hung around for awhile then faded slowly to a decent lace.Malty sweet aroma with a bit of fruit and possibly a little spice as well.Nice flavor of sweet malt some wheat notes and fruit as well.Juuuust a bit of a band-aid flavor there but nothing that can’t be handled.Nice carbonation goes with this brew making the flavors dance on the pallate, and ending with a nice fruity after taste.Pretty decent brew and definately would go well on a hot summer day.More then worth trying again. atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA Nov 4, 2004 Bottled as Foret; Very cloudy orange with a small white head. Fruit, spice, and yeast dominate the aroma. Hints of apricot. Tangy and citrusy in flavor with a wheet taste and feel. Noticable yeast contributes to an earthiness and tangy bitterness on the finish. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Nov 1, 2004 Bottle pours an extremely cloudy pale golden , large foamy white head, sticky lacing, with loads of sediment on the bottom of the glass. Subtle aroma of flora & spices. Sweet subtle spices on the tongue, some citrus & flora as well. Wheaty like mouthfeel, good body. Finishes clean, unfortunately too quick as well. A little more corriander & citrus and I might think this to be a Belgian Wit!
bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Oct 29, 2004 Bottle. Hazy orange-amber color with a huge white pillowy head. Aroma of spice, yeast, fresh cut grass, citrus. Spicey (peppery) hopiness that lasts. Earthy, fruity (citrus) flavors. Very easy to drink. Wish I had a bigger bottle. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 25, 2004 Updated: Sep 29, 2006The pour reveals a slightly cloudy orange golden color with a thick, rocky white head that leaves superb lacing on the glass. The aroma has the classic Dupont yeast with a good dose of spices (allspice?), fruits and hay. The flavor is the summum of balance and class, the yeast, spices, fruits and hay all get their space and time on the stage but no elements dominates the others which means a remarkable dosage of the spices, not too much but enough to feel it. The body is full with a comfy, creamy texture and lively carbonation. This is simply awesome and hits the spot amazingly on the beginning of the week-end.
Aroma and flavor of earthy yeast, spices and citrus. Bitter finish. Light to medium body, lively carbonation. Whoa, very good stuff, I like it better than Vieille provision Saison Dupont.
