I was struck by the clarity and cleanliness of the flavors--pepper, lemon, a hint of alcohol, and a moderately bitter finish. Some yeast notes apparent as well. I was not overwhelmed by the palate--not flat, to be sure, but slightly limp. Still, a very drinkable Belgian. I had mine with a homemade plate of lemon and basil cappellini and they went together very well. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 15, 2003 Starts off with a great appearance, puffy cloud egg-white head, with some cloudy unfiltered orange coloring. A big fruity aroma, with a great bottle-conditioned unfiltered taste, with a light fruity aftertaste. A bit of bublegum and clove once it warms. Finishes nice and clean with a slighty buttery aftertaste. IrishBoy (2731), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 25, 2009 I can’t believe I’ve never tried this - man, that’s a pretty pour - turbid gold, with an effervescent body and a huge, soapy, well-sustained head - aroma of lightly sweet pale malts, wildflowers, herbs, lemon zest, mild earthy funk/barnyard - crisp, dry bitterness up front - remains mostly dry throughout, but a mild sweetness develops through the middle that works well with some lavender flavor that crops up along with it - earthy, rustic, a light bit of wild character - lovely mixture of herbs and flowers in the finish, along with done dry, lingering bitterness and peppery qualities - really well-balanced and tasty - not quite as good as Saison Dupont, but damn close. nick76 (2695), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 30, 2007 The aroma has lots of citrus, herbs (mint and basil), and spices (coriander and caraway) with a touch of wild yeast and malt. The appearance is hazy gold with a large foamy head that just won’t go away. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitterness up front that mellows and then returns for the finish. The palate is thin. Overall a nice beer. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 4, 2007 75 cl bottle. Golden colour with a nice fizzy white head. Nice aroma of fruitness, bread-like and yeast. Very spicy flavour with a very bitter and dry finish. puzzl (2661), New York, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2008 Tap at Ginger Man. A big let down, considering my love for saison, though I’ll freely admit I’m not crazy about normal Dupont either. Thick, rocky head on the pour. Filtered gold. White pepper, milled grains. Spicy flavor, bone dry, popping mouth coating grain. This one is really hard to put down, a combination of rough CO2 and astringent malts. Aurelius (2655), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2003 Hazy pear gold, big foamy head, cool label. Average Belgian fruit-yeasty aroma. Tart (leaning cidery,) slightly medicinal, lightly sweet. Goes a little grainy or strawish in the finish. Fizzy, with tartness and an alcohol glow in the finish. I liked the Dupont better that I had just before this one.
