I think of every good Belgian I’ve had when I smell this one! Good head pour, recedes not too quickly. Not clear, with corresponds to the unfiltered text on the label. The flavor resonates in my mouth for a good moment. It has, what I describe as a high lift in my mouth. I expect the taste to drop, but it kind of floats away. Meaning, there’s no real different aftertaste. But, the initial taste does stay around. Really unexpected. It has a slight nose-clearing sensation (similar to strong alcohols) and almost a peppery after-effect. The body is smooth on the tongue. The cork has "2.006", which I assume is the European way to state the year 2006 (period versus a comma). ElGaucho56 (390), USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 26, 2008 Draft @ BSP, Atlanta. Pours a slightly hazy orange-gold with dense creamy eggshell white head. Nose is slightly funky, with barnyard hops, lemony citrus, and clean caramel character. Full and smooth on the palate, with fruitier pear and apple tartness, coupled with lively yeasty notes towards the somewhat grassy, musty finish. A nice tripel. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2008 750, corked and baled. This is evidently an older bottle. Not sure how much older, but it has the tan label with green text, and just calls itself "Moinette Belgian Ale." And it’s awesome. Pours cloudy medium amber with bright gold highlights and a towering fluffy platinum blonde head. Big bold funks horse blanket and old wet grass nose. Almost overpowering at first, but not after a minute, and never unpleasant at all. Doesn’t show much lace but the film that sticks around is thick and egg-white-y. Lovely creamy medium body with plenty of churning carbonation. Caramel, funky horseblanket, old wet grass, and a bit of herbal hop on the mid-palate. This is sooooo much more farmhouse than abbey, but who cares what they call it? It’s fantastic. I’ll snag any of these bottles I can get my hands on. Not sure how the stuff with the yellow label (pictured) is drinking. Finn (1497), Tromsø, Norway
