RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Jan 29, 2008 Nice little tripel. Murky gold with a yeasty Belgian nose. Flavor is sweet malt with orange and bready tones.Lightly dry finish. Pretty tasty. jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA Jan 28, 2008 Pours cloudy blonde with an off white head. The aroma is musky and sweet. The taste has lots of yeast and finishes with some bitterness. It seems to bounce back and forth with the aroma and taste without settling into a good balance. OldMrCrow (1179), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 27, 2008 750 ml bottle
Pours hazy yellow with an attractive white head. Spicy, lemon-and-orange-peel aroma, coconut, yeasty pushing toward saison territory but not reaching it. The flavor is somewhat sour, again with abundant saison-like notes (but not as good as a good saison), still well within tripel territory. Heavy medicinal alcohol detracts, the hop bite is grassy, spicy, quite nice; fairly nice mouthfeel, but with all of the standout Belgian ales, I’m not inclined to repeat the experience any time soon. davidpl (435), Santiago, Chile Jan 26, 2008 Appearance: golden color. Medium head, airy and white.
Aroma: grains; medium and lasting hop’s smells some mentholated and slight eucalyptus touch. Aromatic fruity reminiscences like peel-oranges, papayas and peaches.
Aroma: pale malts start, light citric and herbal touches from hops and slightly mentholated touch. Fruit’s reminiscences similar to tangerines, oranges and inclusive papayas. Malts and alcoholic aftertaste.
Palate: medium body and velvet texture. Medium carbonated.
Very nice herbal-citric hoppy and alcoholic level. PhillyHomeBrew (176), Forest Hills, New York, USA Jan 19, 2008 very cloudy gold beer with small white head. Very malty aroma with a little orange lime. Tastes very skunky with a little citrus. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Jan 15, 2008 Didn’t float my boat at all. I’m surprised at the 96% overall, I thought it was a little average. One I may have to re-rate, I’d had a curry earlier. I’m a big tripel fan, this just didn’t really do it for me. Differenty strokes an all that. What you talking about Willis? holdenn (1432), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 4, 2008 Sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel". Pours clear golden with a smooth white head. Aroma is yeasty citrusy with dry funk all over. Citrus, caramel, yeast funk flavors. Sweet but dry finish. Very saison like. This was a great beer to break up those heavy alcoholic sweet trippels. This tied for second place for the night (for me at least) out of the 26 tripels. Tasty beer. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 30, 2007 sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel". pours clear golden with white head. nose of coriander, yeast, wheat, slight funk, noble hops. flavor is dry, citrus, funk. this taste more like a saison then a tripel and its awesome. this bottle is probably 2 years old.
