BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Aug 28, 2006 Hazy golden body with a large head and nice lacing. Aroma is yeasty, earthy and herbs with citrus and spicy pepper. Flavour starts off pepper with some yeast with a note of alcohol before turning wheaty with a slight touch of barnyard wetness and pear as it warms. Lots of carbonation abounds from start to finish. Perkeo (318), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 27, 2006 Nice pale but hazy gold with attractive bone white foam on top. Intese estery aroma, redolent with evergreen, citrus peel and juniper. Very alive on the palate, carbonation carries a nice peppery flavor that’s quite dry and thin bodied in a very refreshing way, very champagne like, but with the overall impression of champagne made in an East Kent (or Poperinge) hopyard...classic! STEPHENDR (478), California, USA Aug 24, 2006 Dull gold/orange murky appearance – white head thick and frothy – nose is cereal, malts, dough, caramel– medium body – initial taste is sharp, cereal, malt, and yeast- aftertaste is medium with a creamy, acidic, and grains Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium Aug 21, 2006 Pours a golden straw blonde color with a big frothy white head and some floaties, a bit cloudy, leaving some nice lace; it’s real purdy lookin’ an’ ev’rything. Aroma is a little moldy with wet hay, yeast and alcohol.; complex and sticking in the nose; a touch of citrus. Sourish, dry; lots of vinegary and cidery flavors; bready, yeasty, sourdough; herbal and citrusy, stale hops, Italian/Provencal food herbs. Flavors last forever, and dry out the tongue...This beer is absolutely phenomenal; very deep, complex from all aspects. This is one of the best beers I’ve had. DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Aug 16, 2006 Once again I’m underwhelmed with what appears to be a highly regarded tripel. I thought this came across as harsh and poorly integrated: very sweet up front, but with a dry bitterness in the finish that had an unpleasant ammonia quality. Maybe I need to try this again, because it seems my experience is way out in left field. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Aug 15, 2006 Updated: Sep 1, 2006Had another 4-pack and each bottle had a large fluffy head and a great sharp fresh taste.
33cl bottle. Best before Mar 09. Subdued head for style. Orange-yellow liquid. Smells of pears, yeast and candy sugar. Very peppery. More high alcohol saison than tripel perhaps. Just not sure where they hide the alcohol. At cellar temperature a light sweetness and fruitiness (pears) is present. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 11, 2006 Updated: Jul 4, 2007Cloudy golden body with a large and long-lasting white head. Intense fruity and spicy nose. Also something about yeast or malt makes it a bit skunky/leather (although not unpleasant). Great spongy body which really fills the mouth. Very yeasty. Fruit peels and the type of spices I’d cook a chicken with (I’m probably the only person on earth who tastes onion salt in this beer). The lively carbonation is perfect and adds to long tickling finish. Almost as enjoyable as a minette blonde (french slang for something most heavy beer drinkers don’t get very often) mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Aug 9, 2006 750 ml bottle. Golden in color with a ncie fluffy white head that left a nice lacing on the glass. Citrusy sweet fruity aroma. Yeast and lots of coriander notes. Sweet and nicely carbonated flavor. Fruity finish. Clean tasting. Clean mouthfeel. Medium bodied.
