TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Jan 31, 2006 Pours light golden with a wispy, most receding white head. Aroma of fruity esters: notes of bubble gum, peaches, banana, and honey. Taste is sweet sticky malts with a floral background of hops. Notes of citrus, honey, and alcohol. The greater emphasis on hops diminishes the perception of esters, but makes the beer a bit more well-rounded. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lush carbonation and a dry finish. I wish I knew how old this bottle was, because the alcohol is more apparent than I would have expected from an 8.5% tripel. I have to say I feel the beer is a bit overcarbonated. I enjoyed this beer a bit more after it had been sitting covered for an hour. Interesting beer, and quite good! JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Jan 7, 2006 A gold beer with small pieces of sediment. Flavor of sweet malt and fruit, fitting the tripel style nicely. Flavor includes yeast as well. Not as full flavored as their brown, but a very good beer in its own right. unibaren (145), 8000 Århus C, Denmark Jan 1, 2006 75 cl bottle. Fresh fruity and vanilla-like aroma with hints of yeast. Hazy dark yellow colour with huge foam, and lazings that clings on for dear life, and lots of carbonation. Fresh, quite bitter and long-lasting taste and huge mouth feel. Great beer. Always nice when you are surprised by a beer that I wasn’t expecting much from. SaintArnold1977 (26), Houston, Texas, USA Dec 21, 2005 WOW!!! 750 ml bottle. Dark unfiltered pour and a huge head that clings to the sides for dear life. Man it looked good...Smelled of grass, citrus and banana. I loved the hoppy taste mixed with the spices all while enjoying the aroma of the beer itself. I took my time and let it linger. I will agree and say it ends dry which again I like. 8.5% is a good thing right? I would have had 2 bottles but only had 1.. Oh well. It was fun and a good one... zathrus13 (1288), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA Dec 20, 2005 Yellow/gold color color, with a large, white head. Aromas are hops, grass, and fruit. Flavors are yeast, hops, fruit, spice, and grass. Finishes dry. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Dec 20, 2005 750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden (chill haze?) with lively carbonation and a huge frothy sticky, glistening white head. All what a great saison should be. Aroma is very powerfull, as I can smell if from a couple feet away. At first I thought it had gone stale- I think I poured it too cold. Lots of grassy notes, wierd skunky hops, but as it warmed it moved more into what a true saison should be. Overall I think this one is very similar to the Veille Provision, just a bit stronger and more flavor- more intese aroma. More grassy and herbal hops and spicy yeasty aromas come as it warms. Almost a wierd harsh sea-salt type aroma characteristic to some saisons. Hints of hay and barnyard are also mixed in there. When cold the flavors are very muted and pretty much are undetectable. As it warms though, a lot of flavors really stand out. Some wierd spices, citrus and orange, with a little bit of lemon. Earthy pepper-like tones and a light tart finish. Also ends up pretty dry which is nice. Would be a nice summer beer, but since it has 8.5% it is great for the winter too. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Dec 15, 2005 Cloudy Dark Apricot Coloring with White Head. Spice and Fruit Notes On the Nose...Dry Rich Citrus Taste and Feel to it...Some Spice on the Tongue, Banana. An Enjoyable Tripel, but Taste Seemed a bit Cluttered, Instead of a Smooth Balance of Flavors.. Worth Trying and Storing Some Bottles. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Dec 12, 2005 The description on my bottle matches that of the brune, but mine looks more like a tripel, so I’m going with this one.
330mL bottle. Pours a light amber, cloudy with a few dark floaties and a big white frothy head. Aroma of bananas, bubblegum some spiciness and yeast. Can taste a little alcohol with more of the same. Very mild bitterness. I did like this one, thanks to the guy @ John’s Grocery (dunno his name) for this one.
