jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Mar 1, 2005 2003 750 mL Bottle: Poured gold with a huge billowing white head. Aroma of fruit, yeast, a little funk, and something familiar I can’t place. The palate is signifigantly drier than I would expect from a Tripel, maybe due to being a couple of years old? Flavor is amazing bursts of sour apple, funky yeast, and a champagne like finish. Intense strong flavour and dry hoppy finish.
Wonderful Beer!!!!! mookie (43), Tacoland, Texas, USA Feb 24, 2005 got to be one of the finest in the world. bottle conditioned makes very soft on the palate. beautiful. fine craftsmenship and years of tradition in a 750 ml bottle. strong yet refreshing. the website has a 12 minute streaming video about their brewing and packaging process. texas label is different and gives a short story and description. "sturdy ale...herbal bouquet...well hopped...full, round, slightly sweet finish...have with bbq". i’m a fool for not partaking in this more often. Hazy golden, huge white creamy head, lace. Strange aroma of yeast, grassy hops and boiled vegetables. Good crisp hoppy, lemony blonde flavor but also some vegetables. I wonder if this is characteristic to this brew. Dissapointing, but gets better when all yeast is poured. haddonsman (1234), Derby, Derbyshire, England Feb 9, 2005 Bottled from Sainsbury’s beer ’festival’ 2005. Well, I’m almost impressed, post-Derby festival beer and it’s nearly the best beer of the night (so far). Lovely pale custard body and blossoming white head, bananas on the turn in the nose, catch-in-your-throat dryness tempered by a liquid lemon. Yummy. rauchbier (2993), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Jan 30, 2005 Bottle conditioned, from Sainsburys. Hazy gold, good fluffy lasting white head and gentle condition. Slightly tart fruity nose with some background traces of phenols and a hint of yeast, quite astringent in the mouth with low fruity malt and more phenolic character that in an English beer I would call an infection. Dry and yeasty in the finish with some hints of honey sweetness but still a background funkiness that didn’t quite seem right.
Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA Jan 29, 2005 Updated: Jul 20, 2008Re-rate. Obviously I got a bad initial bottle. Good and very drinkable. Nice summertime blonde ale. A bit spicy. Im not a fan of Belgians but I’d drink this again. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Jan 23, 2005 2003 Bottle. Barnyard funk with lemon-citrus aromas with hints of corn silage. Bananas are also in there. Slightly sourish aroma. A lot going on in the nose. Hazy yellow=orangish color with fine fizzy white head. Start is slightly citrusy turning to a more roasted subdued maltiness. Frinishes rather roasted and dry. This is very seductive and feels wonderful going down. Very silky and smooth.
