jumpjet2k (137), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 7, 2009 "Moinette Belgian Ale" 11.2oz bottle. I’m pretty certain this is the blonde, based on the ABV and color. There was a bit of mold on the inside of the cap, but the beer seems fine. Hazy orange/gold with a huge white foamy head, which recedes soon but remains strong. Pleasant bready/spicy aroma, fruity and a bit floral as well. Flavor is lightly sweet with fruity malt, pepper, spice, lemon, though maybe a little watery. Finishes dry but full with a spicy tang and a little alcohol. Pretty good, overall, but from these guys I’ll stick with a Saison. #100, woo. carruthm (1112), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 4, 2009 light orange yellow color with a slightly bitter finish. typical Belgian spices on the front but slightly muted. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jul 3, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dirty blond color with a thick white head and great lacing. Nose is perfumed and estery, with loads of fruit, dominated by lemons. Flavors of citrus cream, lemon drop, lovely mid-palate bitterness, perfume. Very tasty. Grossecaisse (108), France Jun 30, 2009 Bottle. Musty, slightly skunky aroma. Hazy yellow orange body, huge white head. Fruity flavor, sweet and somewhat perfumy, along with mild spices. Pleasant mouthfeel. Not bad, not great. floydian1 (257), FNQ, Australia Jun 28, 2009 33cl bottle at Restobieres restaurant in Brussels (highly recommended). A hazy pale orange beer with a small sized white head providing good lacing. The nose is spicy and grainy with hints of coriander leaves. The taste is fruity malts (citrus oranges mainly) with peppery spices and subtle coriander. It finishes with an alcoholic warmth and a nice dry tartness that lingers. The restrained sweetness is a real asset in my opinion. Full bodied with a lively mouthfeel. An excellent strong blond ale. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Jun 27, 2009 Bottle. Musty, slightly skunky aroma. Hazy yellow orange body, huge white head. Fruity flavor, sweet and somewhat perfumy, along with mild spices. Pleasant mouthfeel. Not bad, not great. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Jun 27, 2009 Pour is a cloudy yellow with a white head and lots of floaties. Aroma is a little spicy with some floral notes. Flavor is a little peppery with some spice and little watery. Finish is a little sour. This is just ok nothing really great from a good brewer. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jun 11, 2009 Pours a slightly cloudy yellow, with a fluffy white head. Strong grassy aroma, with some sweet mint and basil in there, some spicy yeast, as well as some tropical fruit, and even a hint of banana. Very grassy flavor as expected from the aroma, and from dupont. Otherwise, flavor compliments the aroma well with subtle fruitiness, mild hints of mint and basil, strong yeast, and pronounced apricot/banana towards the finish. Palate is slick, full, grassy, and very fruity. Don’t know that I’d call this a tripel, more like a saison, but fantastic none the less.
