KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan Dec 23, 2008 One of my favorites. When young, it is brilliantly hoppy with perfect malt balance, light ad crisp and exciting. Three years of aging lightens the hops and brings out brilliant fruity, winey complexity and smoothness. Absolutely great. pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Dec 23, 2008 Pours a pale golden color with a pretty good sized well lasting whtie head. Cloudy with some small particles present. Pretty impressive lacing. Floral nose. Taste is very floral, with some citrus and finishing with a fairly strong hop presense.
TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Dec 21, 2008 Had this tonight with some lovely goose cooked by my dear friend Brent. Wow, it paired wonderfully. I had always thought this was closer to a saison or golden ale rather than a tripel. In any case, a very enjoyable and smooth belgian beverage. There is something about authentic Belgians that just cannot be matched by their American counterparts. RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 16, 2008 Very strongly carbonated and champagne-like. Attractive golden pour with spritzy white head. The nose is strongly fruity. The flavor is dominated by the Belgian fruity yeast esters. This beer pairs very well with seafood. terrybail (330), London, Ontario, Canada Nov 30, 2008 750ml Bottle from the SAQ as part of a trade for a server cabinetļ
The aroma was sweet and yeasty Belgian funk and grains with a touch of citrus
Pours a nice blonde hazy amber lots of nice white head and good lacing
The taste was crisp and sweet fruits and honey and citrus I wish we could get this here in Ontario
17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 28, 2008 Pours an unclear golden orange with a delightful thick rich creamy froth. Sweet fruity Belgian aroma, some what maybe? a bit tart and lemony. First taste is sweet candi malt and lots of yeast, a bit of alcohol is present, bitter orange peel, but overall nice, dry and refreshing. Thick creamy mouthful that is airy at the same time, smooth carbonation, lightly chalky. BillKismet (1897), Seattle, Washington, USA Nov 27, 2008 Straw-gold with thick, creamed foam head and lots of suspended particles. Funky yeast and German hops make an impression on the nostrils. Smooth beery, Belgian character with slight skunkiness and German hops detectable on the palate. Would make for a better crusty, beer & cheese soup rather than as a stand alone beer. Crit (2398), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Nov 1, 2008 Not really a bad offering, but the skunky nose turned me off.
Opaque lighjt orange, large lasting white head.Skunky yeasty nose.
Effervescant spicy yeasty palate, good malt sweetness and a long bitter hop finish. Relatively complex.
