Orange golden body with thick white head, stays short but leaves thick beautiful laces; Big soft butter like nose with great balance between malt and hop: light white bread, grain, some citrus, grapes, raisins and a little dust; Very well balanced body with perfect amount of carbonation, medium fill, into long finish with some bitterness, citrus turning into a bread-like warmer malty ending, bitter all the way trough.

From a 750mL Bottle. Lightly hazy, golden color with a thick layer of tight bubbled white foam. Aromas of doughy yeast, herbal coriander, and hints of pear. The signature Dupont characters jump from the glass, sans the pepper. Mild alcohol, subtle floral hops, and suggestions of light malt sweetness. Light bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel with a soft texture. Dry enough to be remarkably drinkable, but still has a nice, soft mouthfeel. Flavors of doughy yeast and light malt sweetness up front on the palate, followed by hints of cardamom spice. Mid-palate, some light lemon citrus notes start to come through. Finishes hoppy in an herbal, refreshing, non-bitter kind of way. Alcohol gets a little bit warm in the finish, which is my only complaint. Tasty beer overall; it’s hard to go wrong with anything Dupont.

Perhaps I was expecting too much. This came off as a really well made blonde/tripel (not my fav style) but was missing a polarising characteristic to take it above the pack.Quite fruity though not too overly exspressive. Will have to rerate in the future.

750 ml bottle in Westmalle glass. Pours hazy pale yellow orange with dense, rocky off-white head and full lace. Mild aroma of grapefruity hops, vanilla, bread dough. Complex flavors of grapefruityness, honey, vanilla tobacco, mild spiciness, with a clean hop bitter finish. Surprisingly light body. Not sure why this is a tripel instead of strong blonde. I wish I could adequately describe how fucking good this is. Might be a new favorite.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2010 Hazy gold, small white head. Remaining carbonation is low for the style. Aroma of heavily spiced bitter oranges. Taste is mildly sweet with a little sourness, bitterness. Heaps of spices- cloves, coriander seed, white pepper, cardamom pods, juniper berries, star anise - but not as aggressively spicy overall as (say) Westmalle Tripel. A fair bit of alcohol burn. [3.4]
Hazy gold, a good coat of white head that lasts pretty well. Higher carbonation than last time. Aroma has oranges, spices and cheesy yeast. Creamy mouthfeel. Taste has oranges, pears, dough and cheese, spicy bitterness. Less spicy and rather more yeasty than last time.

Sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel" tasting. Slightly hazy orange with decent white head. Spicy, orange, oak, light fruit. Fruity flavor with orange, spicy, saison-like, fresher, subdued alc. Well carbonated, medium to light in body. So good, maybe saison spice and subdued alc.
