bluevegie (1769), Perth, Australia May 26, 2008 Golden body with a decent white head. Soft spice on the nose a well as some yeast and a little bit of melon. Taste shows the spice again, no hot alcohol, but seems to fall away a tad.
Guerde (489), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Sep 27, 2008 (06 bottle) Pours a clear gold with a large white head that has the thickness of lake foam. The aroma is very sweet, spicy, and bready. A lot of smells really bounce in and out of perception. Fruity aromas of pear, peaches, cherries, and light raisin are featured. Sweet floral honey is present (increasing more upon warming), along with some cinnamon. Other aromas of bubblegum and sweet bread are coupled with that familiar somewhat musty/funky undertone I’ve smelled in many Dupont beers. The aroma of tart apple-skins along with spiced apple cider is added when the yeast is dropped in. Alcohol is also present, but it does not detract from this great aroma. The taste is also really sweet upfront, with a lot of pear, candi sugar, and floral honey. Right after these flavors, a little spike of alcohol appears, which like the aroma, only enhaces the experience. The spiciness along with the yeast really kick in mid-palate. Tastes of orange and lemon peel are displayed later on in the finish, and this imparts a lingering lightly bitter taste, that becomes more tea-like and dry. It was a good run De Dolle, but Dupont has now officially superseded you as my favorite Belgian brewery. Tiny_Tim (20), Perth, Australia Sep 17, 2008 Rich, golden beer with plenty of sediment. Complex fruity flavour with lots of wheat and spices. Sweet but not too sweet. Very nice. awaisanen (1157), Irvine, California, USA Aug 28, 2008 From a 750mL Bottle. Lightly hazy, golden color with a thick layer of tight bubbled white foam. Aromas of doughy yeast, herbal coriander, and hints of pear. The signature Dupont characters jump from the glass, sans the pepper. Mild alcohol, subtle floral hops, and suggestions of light malt sweetness. Light bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel with a soft texture. Dry enough to be remarkably drinkable, but still has a nice, soft mouthfeel. Flavors of doughy yeast and light malt sweetness up front on the palate, followed by hints of cardamom spice. Mid-palate, some light lemon citrus notes start to come through. Finishes hoppy in an herbal, refreshing, non-bitter kind of way. Alcohol gets a little bit warm in the finish, which is my only complaint. Tasty beer overall; it’s hard to go wrong with anything Dupont. tomthompson89 (1149), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 22, 2008 Bottle from Quebec SAQ. pale golden color with a nice haze big fluffy head. Nose is kinda citrus and belgian spices, yeasty. Flavor follows the same, some nuttyness i like this beer. daknole (838), Plantation, Florida, USA Aug 22, 2008 Bottle from Brother Tuckers. Cloudy golden pour wtih a very big white head. Aroma of yeast, fruit, and some suble spices on the nose too. Fluffy in the mouth and overall a nice balanced beer. Spices, yeast, sweetness all come together for a good brew.
