| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 20, 2007 75 cL bottle. Pours golden orange, clear, and with a diminished white head. Aroma is slight spiced and malty with a whiff of alcohol. Flavour is sweet and spiced with a subdued malt flavour. Has a nice spice note along the way and into the finish. Solid, but the weakest from Moinette. thewolf (5842), Kolding, Denmark

Pours a pretty and very clear, but rather pale, amber (not brown at all). Head is big, rather foamy and off white. Aroma is lightly sweet with a little dried fruits – certainly not like a dubbel. Flavour is lightly malty sweet, rather powerfully vinious and warming. The dried fruits appear again at the final aftertaste. Rather nice, but there are so many better alternatives. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Bottle. Muddy orange with a fizzy, big top. Aroma is sweet and grapey. It drinks with a bit of a spicey edge, a bit of banana mush to it, too. Warms your gullet. Classic to the style. (#3199, 11/10/2007) xibalba89 (147), New York, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Pours a hazy medium orange-brown with a nice head. Aroma has lots of floral hops and funky yeast, with some citrus in there as well. Flavor is a standard Belgian brown ale profile... brown malts, yeast, hints of mushrooms, with some very mild spices as well. This bottle seemed a bit stale, not what I remember this beer tasting like, though when I drank it before I wasn’t as experienced a drinker as I am now. A good beer for the price, but not that much better than Kasteel. I’m going to have to revisit it, though.
*My bottle has a different label than the one pictured. graham515 (437), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2007 Pours brown into the glass with a nice off white head. Aroma is very yeasty with some sweetness to it. Flavor is very malty with those same earthy tones that you get used to from the saison. This beer, much like the saison, seems to expand in your mouth. Pours a clear orange with a beige head. Aroma of caramels, grapefruits, and toffee. Flavors constitute citrus, caramels, toasted, red fruits, hops, and faded hints of pine. Balanced well and pretty tasty. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Rated blind from "Better Know a Style: Abbey Dubbel" tasting. Clear light brown color with small creamy off-white head. Aroma is very light, apple, brown sugar. Flavor is very yeasty, alc and red fruit are strong with prune, dough and some hop residue rounding it out. Medium to full body, somewhat creamy. Very nice and hoppiest of the beers we’ve had.
