Famous for their Saison Ale, Brasserie Dupont is also renowned in Belgium for their Moinette. This sturdy ale has an herbal bouquet that indicates its well hopped character. But unlike its drier cousin, its body is fuller and rounder with a slightly sweet finish. Delicious before a meal and with foods like marinated meats and barbecue.

Had Vielle Provision and thought it was great, so I picked this up. Its delicious. It has a fair bit of hoppiness for a dubbel style, but I think it balances quite nicely. There is also a bit of fruitiness which is very nice. I would prefer if the color was a little darker. Also, the mouthfeel is a little thin for me.

Perhaps the best Abbey Dubbel I have ever tried. Very nice aroma with hops, caramel and chocolate. Very well balanced and soft combination of aroma’s.

330 ml bottle. Strong alcohol smell, but soft in the others. I can sense caramel and some coffee. Dark amber color with a creamy little white head that quickly fades, even if you move the glass appears again. Dense complex taste, not has alcoholic has expected from smell. Taste of grains and just a little tiny bit of cherry. Very bitter taste, not balanced at all, not a pleasent feeling. Good beer, you can tell that is well made, but i’m just not crazy about it.

Hazy copper with a thin lacy lasting frothy reminiscing head. Smells of deep toasted malt, caramel, and candy brown sugar with soft Belgian yeast. Initial taste of sweetness with candy sweetness but softened bitterness in the middle overall with a fruity grape and pepper finish. Lots of caramel and toffee. Very nice dubbel.

I’m a great fan of Brasserie Dupont, specially of its saison, and I expected crear things from Moinette. Well, it’s not a bad beer at all, but I prefer many others into the style. This one is very correct, well brewed, with a red wine touch that enhances the overall with a slightly acid nuance. Good beer.
