davegore (164), liverpool, England Aug 31, 2007 Cask at the ’Freshfield’ near Southport, pours a reddish copper colour with a lightish head. Sweet malts and a nice dry finish. Doppelganger (1057), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Jun 18, 2007 Cask, Far From The Madding Crowd, Oxford. Red amber. Fine tan cap of foam. Plumy caramel malt, a touch of apples, rich, soft, attractive. Full malty richness, but enough rustic hop edge to reinforce the finish. Subtle autumn fruit esters. A nice malt-centric ale, in really good shape. Rating 600 for me. In the pleasant company of imdownthepub and the crowd from Banbury.
