Malty aroma has dark bread and bit caramel. Dense and creamy off-white head is long, clear ruby red, good lacing. Real ale. Slightly bitter semidry velvet, nice feel, low carbonation, long tasty finish, malty, nuts, nuanced. Nicely malty, nuanced and easy to drink, tasty and soft.

Cask, Far From The Madding Crowd, Oxford. Red amber. Fine tan cap of foam. Plumy caramel malt, a touch of apples, rich, soft, attractive. Full malty richness, but enough rustic hop edge to reinforce the finish. Subtle autumn fruit esters. A nice malt-centric ale, in really good shape. Rating 600 for me. In the pleasant company of imdownthepub and the crowd from Banbury.

Cask at the Old Contemptibles, Birmingham. Poured a lovely reddish brown with a broken off-white head. The aroma is rich and malty leading to a medium bitter flavour with lots of liqourice and caramel. The bitterness sits nicely on the palate and into the aftertaste for a truly heart warming and refreshing ale.

Nutty brown colour - and the flavour delivers everything the look promises, and more. Hazelnuts, full fruitiness, maybe apple, and loads of malt.
