2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 kujo9 (1085) - North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA - DEC 7, 2006
12 oz bottle: Medium golden appearance w/ a lasting white head. Initial aroma is sweet and chablis white wine like, but turns to green apple w/ DMS in even balance as it warms. Some grainy malt beyond initial aromas as well as sulphury yeast character and banana like esters. Surprisingly bitter w/ a dry, clean finish, but has some green apple notes in the aftertaste. Sulphury yeast notes up front, lightly papery flavor as well; Some light alcohol notes. Spicy flavors could be hops w/ the bitterness, or could be alcohol causing spicy flavors, but I think it might be the hops. Warming alcohol, higher carbonation, lighter m/f, lightly dry. More bitterness than I expected from a Molson product, but too lightly flavored except by alcohol to make it worth while.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Commodore (112) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 7, 2006
Sour nose, poured a rich gold colour, as opposed to straw yellow. Nice fluffy head. Taste is slightly sweet, but with a sour finish. Definitely not complex, but not too thin either.

Without a doubt the pick of Molson’s litter. It’s a given I bring back a trunkfull every time I’m in Canada for a couple days. Surprisingly well balanced.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 JohnBarleycorn (537) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 27, 2006
Medium- to light-gold with a slacker head and larger-than-average bubbles.
Heavy alcohol nose. Alcohol also dominates the flavour, with an astringent
middle and finish. Lots of soda-pop-like fizz. A vacant muscle-head of a beer.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 XtraStout (46) - Alberta, CANADA - MAR 2, 2006
I’m glad to see this as the second highest rated Molson beer. It has a nice malty taste to it with brilliant amout of lacing. Nice head and a great finish. It has a golden colour while the head is white as linen. In my opinion, best Molson product.

From Bottle
Poured clear yellow, big frothy white head that was unexpected. Aroma malty, and I picked up corn flavors. Flavor again of corn, and grains. It got bitter and undrinkable when warm. I didn’t expect the 6% ABV though.

The pour was a bit more frothy then other Molson beers I’ve tried, a a Malt that is better then most, for any Molson product, ths one is as good as Molson gets.

Bottle (341ml - not a stubby :( . At Pub Italia, Ottawa. Poured bubbly clear pale yellow with an average white tight and creamy head. Aroma - at last! There’s the traditional Canadian grain smell I remember from my youth - medium strong, mostly of grains, slightly vegetal malt, fresh-cut straw, somewhat stale hops - gets a little skanky on warming, drink it up fast. Taste is grainy too, but a touch sweet, with overtones of sour mash without being too corny, finishes very quickly, no aftertaste other than a bit of barley/rye heavy burpiness. Creamy, chewy and slightly watery mouthfeel - overall takes me back, not as thick or strong as I remember, but not bad - way, way better than my recent experience with Labbat 50.
