Commercial Description:
Molson Brewmasters have created a new standard in smoothness with Molson Golden. Each batch is brewed with pure spring water and features a unique two part hopping procedure. Galena hop essences are added in the brewing kettle, followed by the addition of a patented, mild hop after fermentation.

This is almost as bad as a macro beer. Well I guess it should be since they partnered with Coors. Typical cheap pale lager.

I tried this beer during the early 80s when they launched a large Canadian campaign to get beer drinkers drinking Golden again. The campaign did nothing more than make fun of the beer’s name (Moslen Godlen, Molden Golson, etc). This was also the brand featured on all The Molson’s commercials.

Sadly, this beer is no longer part of Molson Canada’s lineup (as per their website).

Anyway, the last time I tried this, the beer was golden in colour with almost no head. The aroma was weak with a grassy tinge to it. It was very crisp and clear on the tongue with weak carbonation. The taste was also weak, not watery, but not very beer-y either. It has since gone on to be associated with ’Old Man’s beer’ along with Labatt 50. I would give a better rating, but the beer was just not that memorable. Not bad, but not worth a second taste.

Drank this years ago when people thought all imports were good. This may be slightly more flavorful than say Bud but, not by much.

VERY grainy. Pretty pleasant to drink. Aroma has a tiny hint of perfumyness. Good for a pale lager.

Pours a light clear golden color with a small white head. Aroma of barley and wheat. Taste is wheat and barley with a watered down bitter finish.

Looks, smells and tastes like an inexpensive Canadian Lager. Not bad for a wrm day, or a hockey game.

Rated 11/10/06: Very similar to their Canadian this is an overall decent lager. Smooth faint aroma, light golden pour with minimal head retention, nice and easy mouthfeel, and a crisp flavor that is real basic. Not much to write home about but it’s a solid choice for a simple quenching lager.
