I have been waiting months to post this review! I got a 6-pack as part of a test market this summer. Half of the questions had to do with whether I would pay more for this than Canadian and the best package size. I was going to share a couple of bottles but to get my pay I was supposed to drink all 6. It was a cool idea at the start but I did not look forward to the last two. To answer the inevitable question the carbonation bubbles were tiny....so what! In a blind taste test I don’t think anyone would comment on tasting bubbles and could not distinguish from Canadian when cold. It is a little smoother than Canadian and less fusal as it warms. Other than that yellow/gold, tiny bubbles, thin head, aroma a bit grain and corn. A fad soon to be forgotten and Molson’s effort to make their beer hip and cool at the upscale bar or night club. Unfortunately a Coors version will probably follow. Makes the new Bud Light Golden Wheat a good idea.

Bouteille 341ml.

Bottle: Poured a pale bright yellow color ale with a small bubbly head with no retention or lacing. Aroma of corn and other crap adjunct is very light. Taste is also dominated by corn and crap adjunct thought very light and this ends up being very close to ginger ale. Not as bad as extremely bland.

I was in on a survey sampler of 6 of these. They kept saying that this was brewed in smaller batches and going to be something completely different. I just couldn’t believe that coming from Molson. Anyway, I got the 6 and started drinking. I wasn’t surprised in the least, this was a pale straw colour with, yes, more carbonation and lots of tiny little bubbles. Thin white head on it and aroma of cereal, yeast and corn. Taste again is less than amazing. As was said here, it tastes like Molson Ex, with more bubbles. I recommended to them in the survey that they should shelve this beer but apparently they don’t agree with me. We’ll see how long this stays on the shelves.

A golden lager with a thick white head. In aroma, sweet corn an malt. In mouth, a sweetish malt with perfumey notes, light hops, overall, cloying. Can tasted Nov. 27, with GRM and friends. Merci Duvell (evil Belgian!).

341 ml bottle purchased at Peluso, November 21, 2009. With a label of high end style and with Jonh Molson’s signature, a sign of good taste, my ass! Pale straw, with the same kind of bubble that is in any beer with CO2, average white head. Aroma of hay and dry corn. Taste of expired wheat and corn, alcohol artificial sweeteners, no but really no aftertaste. That’s a microcarbonated beer? But it’s totally tasteless, but again there are idiots who will drink this beer that does not make you belched! BTW I belched!

341 mL bottle. Gold-yellow with no head. Yeah, it’s got little bubbles. You can feel ’em. But the beer sucks. Syrupy sweet macro swill. The carbonation might be refreshing, in a better beer.
