COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At Pilsner we have not changed since our beer was 1st brewed in 1926. Why? Itís right there on the bottleÖ. "old style". Those are more than just words on a beloved label. Being true to who we are has kept our drinkers loyal and kept Pilsner from being a fad. And thatís why our advertising, promotions and even our website have been done in the style of 1926- old style. Being true to who we are has kept our drinkers loyal and kept Pilsner form being a fad. The stagecoach on the label is not a band wagon..... the rabbit would not stand for it.

This pils poured a clear light yellow with a big bright white head. Scents include corn, eggs and cream. First swig was very watery with light malt flavours and a hint of hops. Finish is lightly bitter with a malty corn flavour lingering.

Bready, cereal aromas. More hop bite than most mass produced beers, however still subtle. Light bodied, thin, longer finish than others of the style. Big carbonation, unique.

Bottle, Silver Dollar, Spadina Ave. Boring beer. More amber than yellow, thin head. Slightly hoppy aroma. Strongly carbonated, thin palate. Hops and corn. Maybe a fall back on a hot summer night.

Can - 473ml. Boring pale blond body with very heavy carbonation and a thin white creamy head. Fair malty/hoppy aroma with some herbal and corny hints. Taste is watery and carbonation is agressive on the tongue. Some timid Saaz hops and corny flavors are noticeable. Ends with a short herbal finish. Probably one of Molsonís most drinkable products.

How bad can this be? Actually better than you think, but it still isnít saying much. Pours honey yellow with foam that clumps & drifts. Taste is corn, some sugar, & a hint of diluted vegetable broth. Not really a pilsner, is it? You can slap that cheesy image on the can & call this beer old timey if you really wanna but itís still slushy corn malt with a sprinkle of hops. Still ... May be the best bet in the Molson stable (I guess the Molson-Creemore stuff is a little better).

"i think i like the ice and Canadian a touch better, but this ainít bad for pee either. nothing great, but it goes down nice with pizza or wings, and there is no offending aromas or tastes. just light malt, corny, a touch of hops...refreshing enough."

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2014 Pale yellow pour, fairly large head that disappeared fast. Grassy and grainy aroma and taste, corn. Easy drinking, if nothing else. Probably the best macro in Ontario, which is like saying who your favourite Maple Leaf is. RERATE - had a fair bit fresher can, review ticked slightly upward.

355 ml can. Pours a pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma of corn and grass. Flavour is pale malt with corn syrup. Light body with watery texture and soft carbonation. This stuff was so bad I actually poured most of it down the drain.

Papillon (380) - Sudbury, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 22, 2014
355 mL Can. Straw-yellow body with a foamy head that settles to a film that wants to cling all over the sides of the glass. Aroma of light sweet malts, grains, corn, a pronounced earthy note, pungent hops, and a subtle innuendo of skunk. Flavor of light sweet malts, aftertaste of light malts, sweet corn, and a hint of corn husk, and a clean finish that comes with a hint of cream cheese; smooth and almost silky in the mouth. A nice light body makes it a summer picnic beer.

Can and what a can. I love all that horrible art work on, it reminds me of Old Dutch chip bags. Smells of corn and hay. Tastes pretty similar with light malts and even lighter hopping. Surprisingly never to metallic tasting. More body than most macros. It feels so innocent with that can, I would drink it again if the LC didnt stop carrying it.
