DATE TASTED: August 30, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: 22 oz. pilsner glass... OCCASION: watching The Tree of Life and trying to see what the director sees...APPEARANCE: pale golden effervescent body that holds a half-finger, off-white oily head; appears to be a pilsner; tracing is surprisingly consistent... AROMA: high-pitched doughy malts; toasted oats and cereal--not raunchy, but not appealing...PALATE: thin, slightly textured with the warmth of alcohol overtly at the throat; thirst quenching, yes...TASTE: blandly doughy; highly malty--the 40 ounce variety that makes this bitter and slightly abrasive... OVERALL: the XXX appeals for a purely frat-boy infatuation--I recall a good friend proudly plopping this on our curb, proclaiming the party to be "on"...otherwise, this lager scores a few points for not punishing with the alcohol, but t is worth seeking out almost solely for the alcohol per dollar ratio....

Certainly better than any American high alcohol beers. Speaking of which, it has three x’s for a reason. This stuff is strong that most malt liquor. It will knock you down quick. Worth bringing over the border.

another slightly sweet, crisp, clean beer. had it in Canada, and while it’s not as good as many microbrews, it’s more than you expect from a country’s #1 or 2 brewery."

Molson’s version of Malt Liquor. My buddies and I got this while hitting the clubs in Canada because the drinking age was 19 and this hit quicker than the regular brews. I haven’t had one in a while but now that I’m older and wiser I probably wouldn’t like it as much.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a light yellow color with a fast rising carbonation trying to fill a rapidly dissipating foamy head. There wasn’t any lacing. The smell had a sweet corn /slightly toasted cereal maltiness. The taste was mainly sweet through the corn. On the palate, this one sat fairly light and came across somewhat creamy smooth. Overall, this is your basic American malt liquor, nothing special and nothing bad.

Tasted on 7/10/14 from a 24oz can purchased at a gas station in Georgia. Pours clear pale golden with an average white head that slowly recedes to thin lace. The nose is corn and toast with the faintest hint of green hops. The flavor is very corny with toast and the same very faint hint of green. The body is medium with average, fizzy carbonation, and a short toasty, corny finish.

Had this yrs ago. 12packs at some beer stores so don;t see this one around much. Just a higher % lager that is good unlike some high % lager’s. Drink one always seemed kinda quickly downed drink a seconed one after and it took a little while. Usally feelt a buzz of one right away but sometimes not till the start of a 2nd one or moments after one. When I had it I liked it but dont usally see it around. Cheer’s!!!!!

The smell is the worst part about this beer as it is with most macro beers -- an unpleasant aroma of corn, stale water and cardboard. The appearance actually isn’t bad, a medium-light straw with a good amount of lace. The taste is far from terrible, just a bit bland and on the malty side. If you need a high ABV for a BBQ or other sweaty outdoor event, you could do worse than XXX. You could also do a lot better, though.

Transfer from BA review on 4-10-12 - Poured from can into pint glass Appearance – Pours a golden color with a large white head. The heads retention is rather weak and it fades quite fast giving way a light amount of lacing. Smell – The smell is heavy of cereal. Corn is the heaviest with a lighter amount of wheat mixed of a slightly metallic and caramel aroma as well. Taste – The sweet corn present in the nose is the first meet by the tongue. There are light hints of caramel more towards the middle, but these are very light in comparison to the sweeter corn flavor. At the end of a taste, an alcohol flavor works its way in. It’s not too potent and gives a nice warming feel. Mouthfeel – The mouthfeel is good for the style. A little bit above average in terms of body with a medium level of carbonation. Very fitting for the brew. Overall – This was not what I would call a great brew, but it did have some decent characteristics and did have a more potent flavor. It is very reminiscent of a malt, but with a little bit more flavor. Nothing great, but for the price (while not as economic as a malt like steel reserve) it works.
