COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smoked abbey ale. It was intended as an imperial stout, but due to the use of 15% smoked malt, came out as another beer. Dry hopping applied.

Countbeer (2921) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - MAY 10, 2012
Bottle: Abv 11% Medium tan head, changes quick into an almost closed tan lacing on top of a deep dark ruby colored beer with some black tints. Smell chocolate, fresh roasted and smoked malts, spices/herbs, hint of liquorice and something like grainy (light liquor) sweetness. Taste Is pretty soft and creamy with a nice mixed bunch of ingredients like chocolate drenched hops, toasted barleys, smoked malts, nice bitter (nothing irritating to be detected, yes!), some spices and light warmth (alcohol notes), something light sticky, nice hoppy grassy touch and a gentle toasted light smokey grainy sprinkle on top. all very gentle and very well balanced! Spices, roasted malts, grass and chocolate bitter in the aftertaste. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, full body and a creamy sticky texture. Very good beer, though the smell is very nice, the flavours are not as strong but the spicy alcohol notes jumps out but not in an annoying manner. If it wasn’t for the small info note here on Ratebeer, you could definitely classify this beer as an (Imperial) Stout. Alcohol is well hidden.

Clear dark brown, very small and fading light beige head. Aroma reminds me of rye and had some smoke, malt and melasse. Taste has some additional alcohol and hop bitterness. Oily texture, medium carbonation.

If you’d tell me this was a De Molen beer I would believe you. It has the flavor, palate and bitterness that many De Molens have, not to mention the high alcohol percentage. The smoke is nice, red berries underneath, great palate. Bottle from De Bierkoning.

At Pint winterfest 2012. Poured very deep brown with a thick off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Full bodied, flavour is of very smokey malt (a bit overpowering, brings the rating down a bit), vinous dark fruit with some coffee and chocolate. Dry, smokey liingering aftertaste.
