DarkMagus (412), San Jose, California, USA Jan 8, 2007 This is my go-to, everyday-drinkin’ sake. I can get this at any supermarket or convenience store for a shockingly low price. Thick, creamy, white color. Major sediment--I like to give this one a serious shake and put it all into suspension. Leaves a thick, chunky coating on the glass. Sweet, slightly fruity, rice-ish aroma. Hints of melon, pineapple, and citrus. Rich, sweet, complex flavors: sweet rice, fruits, yeast. Very thick, but smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Amazing stuff. BückDich (4558), Boise, Idaho, USA Feb 11, 2006 300mL Bottle: After rousing all of the goodness from the bottom of the bottle, I poured a bit into a brandy snifter. It looks nearly white, like viscous Elmer’s glue. Bits of rice and other "lee" material coats the sides of the glass. The nose is strong with sweet pineapple, melon and koji. Floral ethanol and something else like the smell of rice steaming in bamboo or methanol are also present. The flavor is sweet, more so than I care for in a sake. Much more balance in this compared to a similar sake, Sho Chiku Bai Nigori, which has the same "chunk" and sweetness level. There’s not much alcohol taste in the flavor and the acidity is very low. This makes for a smooth drinkable sake that you could drink in very large swallows and still be content drinking a 1/2 sho of by yourself. The tail is brief and dusty. Coating on the mouthfeel like pepto bismol. Decent sweet nigori, these usually aren’t up my alley. Thanks to IslandHaole for this creamy concoction.
