Momo’s 2012 Hop Harvest Ale makes its debut this week at Market Street. This one-of-a-kind creation occurs when a hop farmer selects the finest hop cones for harvest, packs them, express ships them, and then we brew them. Green hops, also known as Wet hops, provide a different complexity to beer that reflect the depth of flavor provided by hops and the quality of the country’s most notable hop growers. The resulting beer is a flavorful expression of fresh, green hop fields, and the care of those who produce and use them. On the vine Tuesday and in the beer by Friday – pretty cool indeed.
This seasonal release is a Centennial-hopped IPA, rich in texture and floral aromas, and carried by both a strong malt backbone and hop bitterness. The flavors and aromas of the hop cone are infused throughout the beer delivering a well-balanced, delicious pint. Welcome Tallahassee’s first Hop Harvest Ale – truly a one-of-kind beer that you will never have anywhere else.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a golden brown on tap with frothy white head and moderate lacing. The commercial description gives you taste and aroma notes, but all are not as intense as you would want. It falls flat of what I was expecting, no real lasting finish or crazy hop flavor for something fresh hopped.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Medium, hazy amber beer. Clingy almost-white head. Great, resinous aroma. This was a really good brew, the hopping and sweetness were well balanced. Thick moutfeel, slippery body. It’s a bit pricy @ $7 a glass.
